American Idol in the news last night

After watching the show last night they had a segment on the news about a school teacher in St. Paul, Mn who is making it his mission to get Sonjayia voted off. I totally agree with him. I can't believe he is still there. I just wish america would get with it and see that he can't sing. I wanted to cry last night to but not for the same reason that little girl was. It hurt my ears to here him sing again. I feel that some good talent got voted off before they started the top twelve. He should have been gone the very first night when they started the top twenty-four. So here's my thought. I think they need to change the way they get voted off. The judges should have the last say in it. Like when they get the bottom three on stage the judges should pick who goes home. What do you think? Do you think that Sonjayia should still be in the competition or should he have been let go?

I agree with you. I don't know what was up with the little girl. She was bawling with everyone. One lady said she was crying to only because it hurt her ears to listen to him. LOL. I can't believe he didn't get voted off last night.

I couldn't agree with you more beauty and I'll let you in on another secret, the reason Sanjaya is still there on Idol is because he has all the votes of the Indian population in the USA. I'm an Indian too and no I'm not voting for him or anybody else. If it was anybody else maybe I would have supported considering he is from my country but no not Sanjaya. He sucks, and that's that. I really can't believe he wasn't voted off today. It is unfair that he is still on Idol and other talented people are getting voted off. Sanjaya maybe cute looking but he is not a singer. I was shocked to see that girl crying..lol my I wanted to cry too and exactly for the same reason you mentioned. Final verdict: My hubby and I don't like Sanjaya either and we feel bad he is still on Idol!

Me too! I really feel bad about the show because of his presence in it! I really think most poeple switch channels when he is singing or even if they do watch him its just to ridicule him. I do not live in America otherwise I, too, might have made it a point to get him voted off the show! (hmmm... now that sounds a bit eccentric, but what the hell we're talking about SONJIAYA)...(I hope I got the spellings right!)

That is exactly how I feel. I think the judges should decide which of the bottom three should leave the show as they would have kicked Sonjaya off a while ago and either Sabrina or Sundance probably would still be there. Just because a child cries over Sonjaya, doesn't make him a good singer. He still is the worst singer on the show, though at least he showed some enthusiasm and moved around. I did not hear about the teacher trying to get him voted off but I can not imagine that whatever he does will work. They either need to stop allowing people to redial or the judges need to decide who goes home.

I totally agree. Some people are doing the voting just to make a joke out of the show. It's wrong.

He should have been gone a long time ago. I think there must be groups out there that are voting for the worst. It can't even make him feel good to stay. It would be embarrassing when the judges act like that.

I know what you mean. You would think he would drop out or something. I know the judges don't like him either. I don't understand why they put him through to begin with. His sister was better.

I saw that on the news last night as well! I don't know...I mean, I think it's kind of silly for that guy to think that he is going to get Sanjaya voted off. I don't think Sanjaya stands a chance against Jordin, Blake, Melinda, Lakisha, Chris R, Chris S....etc. I think he is probably the weakest singer on the show, so his time will come. People just need to learn to vote for the people they like, and keep it up. I don't think the judges should decide who goes home, because it is ultimately America who is going to buy their albums, go to their concerts, etc. It really doesn't surprise me that Sanjaya is still there after this week. I thought he was actually pretty good on Tuesday night, and if he keeps singing that way, I think he might go farther than people think. I still think he is the worst singer there, but at least he's showing everyone he has SOME talent. I feel bad for him though because now he has to go on the American Idol tour, and since he's not all that popular, I hope he doesn't get booed or anything...that would be extremely mean!

Oh, I'm with you about Sanjaya. I'm just so tired though of the same recurring thing every show now, even responding about him now too, but here I am doing it again. I'm not too sure though I'd want to rely on the judges vote because there are nights when I totally disagree with them about some of the performances. I'm not really sure what I think now on how the votes should be picked but I'm just terribly disappointed on how america has strayed away from the main reason of why someone should be winning this competition which is a great, unique singing talent and not by who is "the cutest" little boy, or whatever they think about Sinjaya.

Oh, yeah, I strayed away from the main topic of this discussion, lol. I'm just so sick of this whole Sinjaya thing already. But my point, it would be so great and I really hope this teacher could make a difference. I'm not counting on it though with as many people I've heard of so far voting for Sinjaya to make it through just to make people mad, or all these love sick young little girls voting for him. Okay, that's my response, I'm done:)

I,m just tired of hearing him sing. Ok this week he was less boring, but the singing was horrible. For me it was like Karaoke. I think that teenager and people on votefortheworst.com are voting for him and that make him stay. Same thing happend last year with the little Kevin and the year before with the little red hair guy. But I'M sure that at the end, ti will be a good singer that will win :)

I absolutely agree with you. Sonjoiya has definitely outstayed his welcome. He's becoming more and more impossible to bear! I really don't understand why he doesn't get voted off! And yes the method of voting off should be changed. The judges should definitely have the last sai in the matter and the idea you have suggested seems to make the most sense but I think that they won't do it that way cause then if the people do not like the final winner then there'll be alot of finger pointing at the judges. Even at the elimination they'll be under alot of pressure so I don't think that they'll switch to any other way of elimination because thisis the easiest way around, here they can just say: "Hey if you don't like th e winner then that ain't my problem because you're the people who voted for him!"

I am surprised he is still there also but I think that since it is American Idol and America gets to vote the people that are there are the ones America wanted. It will be curious to see how much further he can go with just the teenage vote.

I certainly don't agree with the teacher - that's absurd - has he nothing better to do? Obviously it's mainly the little girls (and maybe their grandmothers too) who vote for this character because he's cute and cuddly, and like "that nice boy next door" (vomit). Pre-pubescent girls seem to like the "nice", girlish guy type, probably because he is non threatening sexually, regardless of his talent or lack thereof....... Personally, I think the real problem is the fact that one person can make multiple votes, as long as it is in the time period. That leaves the whole thing vulnerable to abuse, and false results. Though I'm not sure how they could make it foolproof. As for leaving the final results to the judges - no way! Look at 'em - Randy, with his stupid jive talk has become a caricature of himself; Paula looks permanently spaced out, and is so sickly nice to everybody that she'll never vote anybody off; the only one I put any trust in to be knowledgable and sensible about his decision would be Simon - and even he is so busy being the bad boy that his judgment may be suspect......... Nah, the whole thing is a disaster - good for a laugh sometimes, but not to be taken seriously......just my opinion of course.

since it's a singing competition and he's the worst singer there he should be gone. it is called american idol though so it's up to the viewers go get voted off. i can't believe though that he survived another week

they always have at least ONE "oh my god what are they doing on american idol" terrible contestant in the top 12 each year. He'll get voted off soon enough...i just can't help wonder what type of contestants they cut in order to give him his position!

The little teenager and tweenies think he is hot. They are the ones who vote. If you don't like him vote for everyone else during that two hours except him. I don't think he is good either. But I also don't vote, in it anymore because the lines are always busy. So I have no right to complain about it. I don't think the judges should have the final say. I like it that America choose the winner. I think they should have a smaller competetions in each state, where you can only audition in the state that you live, where it is broadcasted in each state, then viewers vote who goes to hollywood. I think we'd get even better talnet on the stage.

I think the voting system is not fair actually if you need to find out real talent. When general people give vote for someone it is not only the basis of talent most of the time. They choose someone on a very imotional basis. And also people give vote who don't have any knowledge about singing or acting or dancing (according to the programe). I think it is not only Sonjayia, but that happens and will be happening while public voting system will be there.

I personally think that the contestants of american idol are there because of one reason....they can sing. Again, talent competitions are very subjective. One contestant may be good to me and not to others. We should keep in mind that if you don't want someone in the competition...GO VOTE for the ones you like and just wait for the people to decide. Your bashing and trash talking won't do you any good nor do any contestant any harm. You are just 1 out of millions of people who are avid fans of the program. Try to be civilized and intelligent enough to accept other people and their talent. Treat them as the way you want to be treated.

I am an avid fan and I do vote every night. It takes more than 1 person to keep the good singers in the competition. He has no talent and doesn't belong in this competition. His sister was better.

i agree with the teacher! a lot of talent has been wasted because people opted to vote for sanjaya because he's "cute" and "adorable". i remembered kevin morailis (the "chicken little" contestant last season) because even though he looked nerdy and dorky, he still had some talent once he sings, and he makes it a point to do what the judges told him to improve on. HE MAKES AN EFFORT TO CHANGE, and because of that he reached the top 12. i think they should put the wild card round back. jennifer hudson got back to american idol because she was a wild card pick.

Well, of course it all comes down to the people's choice... Since my wife can't tell me enough, I know that he's attractive, so he's going to hang in there for awhile... I can't much complain - I would've voted for his sister to keep her on the show too, for the same reason. Unfortunately when you get people phone-voting, average joe's, you're not getting the most intelligent vote. You're getting the average person's, uninformed, unspecialized opinion. That opinion... well let me put it this way. Think of how dumb the average person is... Then realize that by definition, half of all people are dumber! lol (I have to credit, I think it was George Carlin?, for that one)

I actually think that it makes it more entertaining this way, but it would definately be mor fair to do it that way, the judges having final say. Although, if they changed to giving the judges the final say then I think people would stop voting all together. I mean, what would be the point in voting if the judges could just override everyone anyway?
