Another cheater!

Hi all! I finally was paying enough attention that I caught a cheater! She copied a discussion word for word, and the sad part is she has almost 2000 posts! And here I thought it was just the newbies!! I'm sad this goes on but I'm proud of myself for having caught and reported it. the discussion was on How Do you see the world? I'm not sure what i can get away with to let everyone know who she is..all I can say is oh the "drama". Should I feel guilty for feeling this good about busting someone?

The rash of cheating lately has me so discouraged. I havent been here in days. I know that sounds overly dramatic, but it just discourages me. I start to look at discussions, or post new threads, and just feel "blah" and go find something else to do. It really angers me that it affected me that way. I love coming on here and finding things to talk about. I know I am being a bit oversensitive and silly about the whole thing, but I am sure this mood too will pass. I am glad you reported them. I am sure by now you are aware that there is someone over at paidforum making a nice little profit off of copying and pasting all of our discussions from over here. He has a few of yours, I recognized them, since they were ones I had responded to. As of yet, he still seems to be active, but hopefully they will eventually boot him.

soccermom, it was me that was going to pm you the information and am searching for it now to pm since I see that you added me as a friend. That was the delay I couldn't send until you excepted me and I don't check it daily anymore only about once a week. So getting right on that. :)

I haven't gotten involved with paid forum at all and the more I hear about them the more I don't want to. It really ticks me off that people steal discussions. I have yet to find out who the guy was that stole mine. Someone was going to PM me about it and never did, or maybe it was vice versa? I don't remember. Criminy, I'm starting to lose it. ANyway, I've only been spending a lot of time here when I'm bored at work, I've been reading books when I'm home, trying to set an example for my daughters! LOL

I don't see why you feel bad about it. We are doing the best we can to keep cheaters away from mylot. If I found one I would've done the same. But the thing is I don't get on here all the time and so I don't always remember whether I've seen this and that topic before or not.

You did the right thing. Don't feel guilty. you had showed and lead the other members how suppose to act against such of case. beside cheater, there are many people say bad words to the other. we should report such case as well.

No, don't be ashamed, you did the right thing. But I think you should give us the name so we can check and see it has been done in any of our discussions.

I'm not sure if I'll get in trouble for this, but the user is againdrama. I guess the user name should say it all.

No, you should not feel guilty about this because they are contributing nothing to the site and if it was not reported then it would continue. This type of thing was very prolific a few months ago, and due to the diligence of members and the actions of Mylot admin it has been controlled very well. As long as this sort of cheating is kept under conrrol then the site will prosper, but if allowed to become commonplace it will damage the site. This will never be stopped completely because there are new people joining every day, so it is important to help Mylot to protect themself from this type of thing. Of course it is not just new members that will try this if they believe that they can get away with it, which is why I have never understood the ruling concerning copy and paste facilities for new members.

It wasn't over 2000 posts, but she was pretty close to it. I think it's a shame too, if you can't come up with your own discussion just stick to responding. I go days without starting a discussion just because I can't think of any! :)

AWWWW Hunni!!! You did good!!! Great! Wonderful!!! Should i say more? I came across this a few times, even posted a discussion on it myself, a while back, anyway, it just gets me that MyLot doesn't recognise these guys sooner, but then again, there's 80 000+ people, and probably not enough staff.... Can't blame them.... right? I've reported my fair share of cheaters, and i don't think it's wrong, it just means that we're constantly trying to help keep the sanity and flow of this place going, because after all, WE LOVE MYLOT! So feel good, do a happy dance, you just helped the MyLot community and staff to better our second home (Is that a good way to call it?) Hope so... Anyway, congrats, thanks, and hope your having fun...

I wish I could know who that member is, so I can report her as well. It's a shame that there are members here with a lot of points, and you think that they are well respected here, but they actually not. I hope that myLot staff will deal with her, and ban her.

Am glad you caught this person. I sometimes do a double take when I have to go thru all these discussions trying to find ones that definitely interest me. I would be like...I read this discussion somewhere before. That is why nowadays, I seldom start my own discussion, even if I do, I have to search it to make sure nobody had posted similar things. There are just so many discussions that not many can keep track. Thanks for being vigilant.

After you reach a certain number of posts you're allowed to copy/paste. I think it's 500 but I'm not sure.

You can start a discussion on the same topic someone else has. With this many users it's bound to happen. What you can't do is copy/paste someone elses discuccion/response word for word. Not only is it a violation of the rules, it's just plain rude to your fellow mylotters. Keep an eye out and don't be afraid to report abuse, good luck and happy posting!! :)

Yes you should feel really good. I know I do when I catch one. We don't need them here stealing from others.

Good. This is a FREE SITE TO JOIN. You shouldn't be greedy in trying to earn money. I'm thankful you caught the cheater. I always say honesty is the best policy. You should feel as if you did the MyLot community a service by making sure the site has provacative, relatively original, and original questions and comments to discuss that engage the MyLot community. Hats off.

No! I am a newbie, since Sunday and it is very hard to come up discussions, it is hard work and if someone is copying, it just proves there lack of creatvity and need to be dealt with. MyLot needs some stricter rules. People like myself that put alot of work in these posts should be compensated differently from someone who is looking to repeat someone else's work, it should be automatic termination. If the rules change may be the pay will increase for the hard workers, on here.

yeah you should feel good about it. because there are not too many like you who have the courage to do so. a person like will serve as a lesson to those people who thought of nothing but to cheat. you deserve a bonus. i should give you one if where part of the admin.
