What is the most important thing a parent can do for a teenager?

I think the best thing that we can do for our teenagers is to listen to them and try to help them cope with the way things are in the world today. We need to try to help them understand the importance of still having family and moral values. We need to be there and listen to them tell us about the peer pressure they may be going through also. We need to try to help them to understand that they do not have to be like everyone else and that they can make their own choices and they do not have to be exactly like their friends at school. We need to let them know that it is okay for them just to be themselves.

I think that a parent has to open communication with the teenager without judging them. Sometimes it is very hard not to let your opinions get in the way. The parent should make the teen feel comfortable talking to them about anything and knowing the parent will be there to support them.
