Brownie theif at camp

The last time we went camping, I left a lidded plastic container of brownies out overnight on the picnick table. I thought it would ok because there were a lot of people around, and my dog was there too. In the morning we discovered the container upside down under the table with the lid off. Most of the brownies were eaten, and there were some kind of small green pellet-like droppings on the table. Does anyone know what kind of animal could have done this?

Raccoons. Don't leave your strawberry poptarts out either. We forgot our snack bag outside one night and they ate two whole boxes of them. Dang raccoons...why couldn't they eat the chex mix?

You Know, Karen, I never received this discussion. I just went to your page to see why I had received any at all from you in a while, and I am not receiving them. You are not the only one. There are others I am not receiving. Anyway, I am not sure about this...of course, if you put hemp in the brownies that might be the reason the pellets were green lol. I am not sure what you mean by little. In that case, it could not be a bear or a dear. Could be rats... or some kind of rodent. If most of the brownies were eaten, I am wondering why they left any behind. Could be squirrels. They didn't even leave a thank you note...

I wonder why that's happening to your notifications? This discussion is old, so you probably never saw it. I haven't posted any new ones in awhile because I haven't been spending much time here. All I've been doing lately is trying to keep up with my friends discussions. If those had been hemp brownies, there wouldn't have been any left for the racoon or squirrel, because the boys would have eaten them all. Even though they weren't magic brownies, everyone was dissapointed that they were gone.

We go camping all the time, and you cannot leave anything outside. The raccoons will get into it. We don't even have to be gone. They come right up while you are sitting there. They won't get too close, but they are pretty brave. We sit and watch them make their rounds. I am sure that is probably what stole your brownies.

Raccoons are very smart. One of my favorite movies was The Great Outdoors, with John Candy. The Raccoons were hilarious.

No idea...if I had to guess I'd say raccoons. They are nosy and smart little critters. At least someone got to enjoy your brownies. LIVE IN PEACE

The guys are still talking about those stolen brownies. Next time I make some brownies for camp, I'll have to keep them safe.

Well, ya have to admit, raccoons are so cute too! I see it's been about a year since you posted. But we learn from our mistakes. I also hope that the animal wasn't poisoned by the chocolate. You know how they have found our pets can't have chocolate. Well, happy camping for you this year! :o)

Thanks, I hope to go camping this year, and I will have to find a better place to keep my food. I love to watch the wildlife, but I wouldn't want them getting sick on my food.

My guess would also be raccoons. Squirrels would have just chewed through the plastic to get the goodies out. We used to put peanuts in a metal coffee can with a plastic lid taped on and watch the raccoons try to get the peanuts out during the night. It didn't take them long at all to figure out how to peel off the tape and pull the lid off the can. They're very smart (and sneaky)

That racoon must have been stuffed after eating all those brownies. It was a double batch.

Sounds like you had racoons visiting your campsite. They get into everything. You are lucky you found your container. But they are also very good for cleaning up after us humans. They make sure we do not leave anything laying around.

my guess would be raccoons or possums, they are so dextrose with their fingers and do not seem to fear very easily.

Possums give me the creeps. They look like giant rats.

No idea dear. I have a cat too and I wanted to share about him (about his eating habbits ). Our new cat is obsessed with food.He eats ANYTHING.We squirt him w/H20 but he still won't stop. I've had cats my entire life, but I've never seen a cat eat what this cat has. He's eaten raw fruits, vegetables, even things the dog won't eat! Our dog was trying to eat some califlower that fell on the floor, but spit it back out. He decided to attempt to eat it again, but spit it out again. After he spit it out a third time the cat pushed him out of the way and gobbled it down! (The same exact thing happened with a pea pod!) He also likes to steal things off your plate and run away to eat whatever he took. We drench him with water constantly, but he just won't give up!! He could be soaking wet and will still find my glass of milk or try drinking out of my bowl. I'm afriad he's going to get sick if he's always wet. This cat begs/eats worse than any dog I've seen. He even tried to gobble down a giant pill that fell on the floor (and it doesn't taste good) - I had to pry his mouth open to get it out & after it fell on the floor again, he got it back in his mouth.

Thats funny. I've never heard of a cat like yours. Cats are usually kind of picky about the stuff they eat. My daughter used to have a cat who loved to take bubble baths.
