Is that your umbrella?

How do you treat that umbrella - fold it nicely, don't bother, treat it like a treasure

I was keeping my friend's folding umbrella, straightening the folds one by one, when he said 'No need to be so tidy' and he showed me the way. He closed it, rolled it and that's it, all done in fractions of a second. It is not my style. I just cannot stand an untidy umbrella! Whether the umbrella belongs to me or not, as long as it is me who keep it, I will fold it as neatly as possible and make sure it is as "thin and lean" as possible. It got me wondering, am I really so wierd? How do people keep their umbrellas after use? I try to recall my observations... Some are free and easy - just leave it as it is Some are particular - keep it neatly and nicely Some are waterproof - they just don't bother to carry any umbrellas even in heavy downpour. What about you? Do you use an umbrella when it rains? Or you use it only when it shines? How do you keep your umbrella after use? Leave it as it is? Chuck it aside? Fold it nicely?

Whether or not I carry an umbrella depends on how hard it's raining and/or how long I'll have to be standing/walking in it. As for folding it, well... I just do the roll and tie thing. I don't bother with it. I guess I don't see the point.

I'm not sure I even roll. I basically just tie it up and go. LOL

I always have umbrella with me. Its a nuisance to carry one though. Of course, I make sure to fold it nicely. Let me tell you something, whenever I will talk with a man who happened to have umbrella with him, I will look closely if its folded properly. That way, I will have an idea if the man I'm talking to observe good hygiene or not. :0

Huh? I must say you do have an interesting habit. Just curious, how does umbrella relate to hygiene and the man you are talking to :P

I'm stating this thing from my own logical views. If a man took the time to fold his umbrella properly, it means he is also making it a habit to oberve cleanliness. You will know right away that he is a very organized person. I observed it oftentimes with my male friends. Got it???

Got it! One good way to observe a man :P oh yes, just a caution... the man might have someone folding his umbrella for him. LOL.

Whenever I'm in the Philippines, I would always carry my three-fold umbrella in my shoulder bag because the weather could get unpredictable. It could suddenly turn out to be very sunny, or there could be a sudden downpour. Here in the U.S., I never carry my umbrella with me. There's no heavy downpour (of rain) so far. The most I had experienced was sleet, and I never used my umbrella (my cap was fine). I think I just got used to not using my umbrella here because others don't usually use theirs, too. Hehe. Anyway, I would always fold my umbrella neatly after it has gone dry. I don't chuck it aside.

lol Yeah,I ,too, like it lean and thin. So,I kep folding it till it is as small as it gets,if they would have allowed me ,then I'd have folded it till it was the size of a mobile, lol.I don't worry so much about the tidiness, but I like it more when it's tidy.lol Funny observations.I am definitely the waterproof type :-P I love rain and love to get wet no matter what!lol It helps that I have a strong immune backing my frenzy ,lol.Usually, after using the umbrella ,when I get home I let it be open so it dries out and when it does,I nicely fold it up.There's got to be a day in near future when unbrellas could be even smaller.Like a pocket umbrella ? I would like that, lol.

Pocket umbrella? I would love it too. I think it will be available in the near future - foldable until pocket size.

If I am keeping it "for good", I will definitely fold it neatly like you. If I feel that a rain is imminent, I will definitely bring an umbrella with me. Guys don't use umbrella to shield themselves from the sun. :P

I'm waterproof. The fact is, I just can't be bothered to remember the umbrella. Unless I am in full business attire or dress clothing I will not remember an umbrella. And even then I can't be guaranteed to have one. Coworkers will often spy me sprinting across our gargantuan parking lot in the pouring rain with my shoes in my hand. I absolutely refuse to ruin my good shoes in puddles. What can I say? I'm weird.

I am living in rain soaked Ireland so I always carry an umbrella with me even in Summer. Goodness only knows when our unpredictable weather will change. When my umbrella is wet, I won't fold it until it dries out as I wouldn't like to get mildew stains on it. After it dries, I will fold it up very neatly and place it back into it's cover.

I can't stand seeing my bestfriend's umbrella. She doesn't fold it neatly. I fold it for her myself. I don't like using an umbrella whether it's sunny or rainy. But when it's raining really hard I don't have any choice but to bring an umbrella.
