Do you collect pictures of one type of item? I do. I take pictures of clouds. Lots and lots of clouds. Why? I don't know, I just love doing it. The sky is so mutable even in photographs that each time I look at it I see something different or new. What do you take photographs of?

Not so much an item or items. But my current most common subjects are: flowers, guinea pigs, and sea lions/elephant seals. Probably because these are subjects I see all around me. Flowers are in bloom now, I am a guinea pig foster parent, and I volunteer with marine mammals too. Funny thing is, I have two rabbits and I don't take many photos of them. After she finishes shedding, I'll have to get some photos of Floppy. Part of it is, she's too fast to take outside for photos. Sunny, my 11 year old rabbit, is much slower. So I dunno, maybe I should get more photos of him. I actually have quite a bit, just not anything recent.

You must live in a warm climate! How do you foster parent a guinea pig? Just wondering as a past guinea pig owner...

I foster guinea pigs that come from shelters. People get tired of them, dump them at the shelters, and then if I have room the guinea pigs come to me and others to watch them and care for them until they are adopted into permanent homes. A good site to check out if you're interested, is www.cavyspirit.com because they have links on there for finding rescues all over. Or for those outside the US, www.guinealynx.info has both the US and other countries covered.

My favorite subject is benches. No people, just benches - in parks, along sidewalks, anywhere. I especially love them in the rain or snow. Something about them always seems so lonely and so inviting at the same time.

Wow! That's really great. What an awesome way to see that. I would have never thought of a bench as anything other than ... look, my feet hurt. let's sit! Great post!

Not at all, photograghy and photo collection is not my kind of thing. I like to pass my eyes through collected photos though I am aware my sense of appreciation is very poor.

I like butterflies. I take photographs of butterflies all the time, when the weather permits. It takes quite some time to catch a good picture. They flutter away whenever there is a little ruffle among the grass.

Wow! You must walk silently to be able to collect pictures of those delicate creatures! At least I don't have to sneak up on the clouds! I'm jealous!

You're a fan of Stieglitz then? (I think it's he who did "Equivalences"). I seem to enjoy photographing things that are rusted or otherwise falling apart. My wife makes fun of me for it, but I love who rust looks in b/w photos. It's so rich in texture.

I too love rust in black and white. It does have a nice texture and seems to show age and antiquity rather than broken down tool like it does in color. I'm no real student of photography as this is a major hobby of mine, but I've always wondered if its because of the limited shades of colors allow it to be more forgiving?

I mostly collect pictures of my kids. I can't stop taking pictures of them. I am just a crazy person when it comes to taking pics of my children.

As you should be! My best friend is as well. As the proud godmother of both her girls, I am happy she is too because I get a copy of each one and don't miss any moments in their lives because of it. Taking pictures like that let those of us who can't be there everyday, enjoy the everyday triumphs.

I mainly take pictures of my friends, I love them so much that I want to capture the memories we'll have together. And when we go our seperate ways one day or stay friend I will always be able to look back and remember our friendships. Other then them, any type of nature captures me.
