Do you give a "thank you" for getting a best response on a discussion?

I have a couple people give me a thanks for giving them a best response on a discussion I had started. I thought that was such a nice thing to do. Not only did I appreciate the thank you, but it was of benefit to me as well -- the thank-you comment put my discussion back into the recent discussion section, making it easier for others to take part in the discussion. A while ago, I thought I'd "repay" the kind gesture and started going back to thank those that gave me a "best response." I didn't hit them all, not yet (lol) but I got a good start on it. It made me feel good to pay a visit to topics I'd answered long ago - a month or two ago ~ the topics generally just as relevant today as they were then. I hope this gesture "catches on" ~ it's a nice MyLot thing to do!

Yeah i agree with you, if someone give you thanks it will make we feel more appreciate, and if some discusstion that agains your thought so please use words more carefully not just tell your opinion and please appreciate other opinion,

I don't always get around to it, but I do try to do it and for the reasons you mentioned. It's just polite to say thank you, but also I like to boost the discussion of someone who gave me best response. I think it's a good idea. I need to go back through and do some thank yous.

I try to go back through and see if I got a best response rating from someone but my wireless connection has been taking a beating because of the weather. To make it even worse, some members have scripts running on them that trip my firewall and freeze up my system. They are some type of code that activates a pop up saying that some of the things on the page might not be safe to view. Needless to say, I avoid those pages like the plague lol.

Well you know at first I didn't. The only reason I didn't was I thought that it might look somehow pushy. (don't ask I have a weird brain) I wanted to because I think it is polite. Then I noticed that some of my best responses were vanishing. I then decided to start thanking people so that if they had to resolve their discussion again they it would make it easier. Now even though I do want to make things easier for the OP I do like saying thanks and letting the OP know I appreciate being selected!!

so far I have only one "best response" and yes I've given my thank you note. I've also denoted best responses to few of my discussions but I don't remember getting any message of thanks..:( sad, maybe they haven't figured it out yet..you're right..hope this nice gesture catches on..happy posting!

Well I don't believe I've been picked for a best response yet, but if I did I would definitely give the person a big "Thank You." Thanks people for being generous is always a good practice. So yeah I'd completely agree it's a great thing to do.

When I started on MyLot I was surprised to find I had some *best responses* and left a "thank you" on those discussions. I have continued to do so, after all it is only polite to say thank you and it means that people have appreciated the time taken.

Yes I always say thanks to the people who choose my answers as best and also I try to thank all who give reply to discussions started by me. It is very depressing when you start a discussion and no one replies. So I try to see that I thank every responser of mine. It makes me happy.

That was nice to give an overall thank you, but it may not directly help spark new discussions on those posts as new readers won't have them brought up into the recent discussion section to have a chance to be seen again. I thought is was so nice to be thanked - that started me to doing it.

I did thank some people who gave me a best response but only when they commented on my response, some just mark you a "best response" without commenting so I feel that it's not a real conversation going on, I don't know, I like to thank people all of the time but mylot guidelines says we shouldn't comment just to thank people, so I only thank when there's a conversation going on and I include the thank you with further comments..

Yes, of course, because it makes me proud of what i replied. Being chosen as best response is a great thing to me. Because i'm happy that i made a big help for them and they are satisfied of what i respond..I already got 5 discussions that mark me best response..
