Belore all my friends get all sad on me, this is not a depressing discussion. I have a writing assignment (again) but need some help. What I would like to know is - Have you ever written a eulogy? What was the hardest part for you? If you haven't written or delivered a eulogy: Have you been to a funeral and had the eulogy really effect you? Also has there ever been something about a eulogy that really stuck with you? please share if you would.. One that really stuck with me was my favorite uncle delievered the eulogy for my other uncle, his older brother. During the eulogy my uncle was sharing that his brother had asked him to do the eulogy before he passed away. As he said this he looked at his brother laying in the coffin and said, "Thanks alot you old fart"... It made everyone laugh and was a great stress reliever for everyone.

It is easy to see a lot of good things about somebody who lived a good life and helped others. The best eulogy that will ever be said about any of us is how we lived our lives. Have you ever been to a eulogy where the preacher or priest had a hard time saying good things about someone who had lived a bad life? Sometimes it is not easy.

I have written a eulogy for my granny. I love her next to my mom. I practically grew up with her. Times with her were one of the greatest! What was hard about the eulogy was having to sing the song "Better Days" per stanza and telling everyone the mem'ries we have made in relation to the lines of the song. I couldn't go way pass through each line without breaking down. Infact, talking about it now made me look back and remember how it felt. Time hasn't been a good healer.

As a matter of fact, I was recently at a memorial service (imagine that). My sisters and I asked my daughter (she's 22),to write my mom's eulogy. It was beautiful, it had something in it for everyone. Anyone who knew my mom, heard something in it that touched them. If I had (500) I would copy and paste it for you to read. She started it out with a quote by George C. Scott, "The human spirit is stronger than anything that can happen to it". She said mom, her Grammy, gave us little pieces of herself, always creating lasting memories (She had each of us tell her of a memory that we had) and she included that and said that remembering her would be not be complete without saying "shoot fire at a red horse mule", which was something my mom ALWAYS said, usually when she was frustrated at something. That brought one of the many, "laughter through tears" moments we had that day. She talked about how Grammy enjoyed the simple luxuries in life like milk and honey bubble bath that we had all grown accustom to buying for her. She mentioned other things she had enjoyed during her lifetime. She talked about her learning spirit, learning until the night before she passed away, when she discovered she liked strawberry yogurt. There is so much more. My daughter even read the eulogy with her brother by her side. She cried through some of it, and so it was read a little fast and quiet so we gave out copies so everyone would know what she said. Thank you so much for the moment of reflection. It's so nice to think about those memories and the great years we had with mom.

Faith I have never had to write a eulogy...So I do not have much experience...The ones I have heard though was basically giving details of the persons life, some personal things like their children, family, what type of person that they were..Some times that you can remember that stands out in your mind about this person...What they did in their life, education, their hobbies..Some funny things in their life, some fun times, sad times...It is really about that persons life..
