Medical bills can take its toile on the family budget. One emergency can wipe out a families saving account in an instant. Then to top the Medical bills off there are always medications. Some we know will be there month after month but then there are those that sneak up on us that we had not counted on. Medicine can be a huge impact on our paychecks but it is something that we cannot live without. Lets face it, even with prescription coverage, you will still be paying a large portion of the money yourself. Our Medicine is costing us over $500. 00 a month and that is with prescription coverage.
Walmart has introduced a program of selling nearly 300 generic drugs at $4 a prescription, covering up to a 30-day supply. I do not know if it is available nation wide but I do know that they have recently added some new states. West Virginia being one of them.
This program will be a vailable to all pharmacy customers with a doctor’s prescription that can be filled with generic as long as it is taken to a participating walmart.
There is a downloadable list of all the medications that are available by PDF at this link

I was very impressed with the list. Seems there are a lot of commonly prescribed medications on the list.
The medicines represented are used to treat and manage conditions including allergies, cholesterol, high blood pressure and diabetes; Some antibiotics, antidepressants, antipsychotics and prescription vitamins are also included.
Switching from a brand name to a generic drug can save a lot of money.
Often times Doctors will have samples of medication that you can get if you ask for them.

I have been getting my medicine at Walmart under that $4 plan for a few months now. I don't have insurance so this has saved me quite a bit of money. I always wondered if there was a list of all the medications available under this plan but I never searched for it. Thanks for posting it.

It is a pretty extensive list. I was impressed. Glad it will help you. If you print it off and your dr needs to prescript somenting, maybe he can use the list

This is valuable information for those that need this kind of thing. Also good to know if we are ones that end up that way and no insurance. That could be changing soon. Hope for us. Thanks for sharing this with all of Mylot. Should be a way that all could see it for sure.

I sure wish I could use that, unfortunately, as of now, they don't carry my medicine. I need to ask them if they can get mine on the list too, it might be that the one I use may be too new, some plans are like that, if it's too new, they won't offer it at a reduced price. Maybe, I'll do some research on others and ask my doctor if I can change. Thanks for the discussion.

I will have to check this out and hope that this is something we can get in our area , Walmart is a couple of hours away from us but even if I could get some of my prescriptions when I was in the area would save me something and every little bit would help .
I am still young to have the medical problems that I have and we have no coverage whatsoever and because they are all pre - existing conditions it would not be worth if for me to get coverage because we would be spending more a month then we are now and we have a hard time trying to pay for what I need every month as it is , so it is no benefit to us to get anything now but it would have been nice to know when I was younger that like you said things creep up on you without you even realizing this , because when I was younger I did have coverage and cancelled it because I looked at it as I had years to worry about having medical problems and then as you get older I never gave it any thought that it was getting more and more expensive because the older you are the more they charge you and then when we found out I had medical problems they all hit me at once and there was no time to even consider this option .
This would be a big help if in any way it could save with even a bit . Thanks :)

Walmart is an hour away from us but it is so much cheaper on our meds. Not all our meds are on the list but some are. I have major medical problems and this is helping alot. The list is accurate and if you cant download it, just go to the walmart pharmacy or sams club pharmacy and pick up a copy. I got my last meds at sams club. We are members but the pharmacist said that for medication, he did not need a sams card. Good luck to you. all the meds are generic and for a 30 day supply. It is $4.00 a prescription. The list even tells you what strength they offer.
another tip is to check and see if the pills can be cut in half. Have your dr to prescript a larger strenth nad you just cut them in half. For instance you take 25 millagrams of amatriptline. Ask the dr to prescribe 50 miligrams nad cut the pills in half as soon as you get home. Then you have a two month supply for $4.00
Make sure that the pills can be cut in half though
