What is your favorite bird of prey?

Red-Tailed Hawk - This is a picture of a red-tailed hawk perching on a branch. It's a really good view of the tail plumage.

I love most birds of prey, but my favorite is the red-tailed hawk. I feel a certin spirtual connection to this bird, and it always puts me in a better mood when I see them soaring through the air or even just perched on a tree resting and basking in the sunlight. They are truely majestic creatures.

I have to say the Bald Eagle. It is also my animal totem.

I love bald eagles, they are so regal. I thought a persons totem was supposed to remain a secret.

It's not technically a bird of prey, but I love vultures. They have an awesome wingspan and I love their hunched posture.

So many people don't realize how harmless vultures are. My wife was amazed when she saw a group of vultures and pidgeons mingling like friends. There are some that drink from a pond behind my house. They occasionally chat with my birds who have a little aviary on my porch. Naturally the aviary is walled and screened so no predators can get through, but they can talk to birds outside.

I saw another vulture yesterday at my collage campus. This is so weird. Before this week I'd only ever seen a vulture maybe twice in my life. Now I've seen two in two days.

I would have to say the Osprey. I love to watch them hunting. They hover in the air, flapping their wings for a bit, then SLAM! they dive into the water after the fish. Another favorite of mine is the Bald Eagle. Once, while I was visiting Cape Breton, Canada, a Bald Eagle flew about 4 feet above my head. When I looked up, I couldn't believe how huge that bird was. It was so amazing to me that I didn't even care if it pooped on my face while I watched it sail over me. (It didn't poop, thank goodness)

That's pretty awesome. I don't think I've ever been that close to a bird of prey before.

This is a year since the starting of your discussion but because of my postings and picture of the red tailed hawk in my backyard this thread came up and I just had to add to it. I love mother nature too and I feel a connection with the hawk and everytime I see one I feel it is going to be a great day. I would love to have the ability to soar with them on the wind currents. This hawk in my yard had some prey and we watched it for almost an hour. I really feel blessed.
