When you buy online, such as ebay or a website, how do you like to pay?

Do you use a Paypal, send a check or money order or use one of the other payment processors like MoneyBookers? I have a website. It is https protected so it is safe. Right now I can only accept payments through Paypal, check and money order. This is how every one has paid me so far except for 1 MoneyBookers transaction. I am wondering how much business I will lose. The other payment processors want more than Paypal. Some of them want 80 cents + 5.5%. That is ridiculous and unfair. It is what prevents me from using the other payment portals. How do you like to pay and why?

I use paypal for about 99% of the auctions I win on Ebay. I also accept payment through paypal when I am selling on ebay. Its easy to both buy and sell with the help of paypal. When I sell stuff, it ends up being a hassle if I have to wait for a money order from the buyer.

Very true. You probably like I have only received check, m.o. or paypal. I have sold thousands of items on ebay and that is how the majority of my customers pay. I use Paypal out of convenience. They also give the buyer a sense of security. Which is a +. Thank you for your response.

I use e-gold as payment processor to buy or sell any thing online because paypal is not available in my country and secondly e-gold is as widely accepted by most businesses as paypal!

I'll put e-gold on the list of possible candidates. I know a lot of people get payments through them. How much does e-gold charge to receive payments?

I purcahse quite a lot of goods online and I usually try to use PayPal as I have found it to be very safe and secure. I have used BidPay on a couple of occasions but this is like using Western Union and it doesn't gaurantee that I will receive my goods of a refund if I don't get them. I have also used PPPay but of them all, I find PayPal the most reliable.

PayPal is pretty good. If you do ebay and buy and sell its good. Starts to get expensive to put it back in your bank though! Seems safe. I have always got paid!

I almost always use paypal. Since I am usually buying froma different country that is the smoothest for me. I am not sure that I would send a check or something if asked - that feels a little more unsafe somehow,

It is no different than using a check at a local store. If you lived in my area you can contact my business out of the phone book. You can validate my certification as well as business credentials at the local courthouse and most of my local clients pay via check. BUT if someone does have your routing # on the bottom of your check, your bank will give them your money. It happened to me. It took about 3 hours on the phone with the bank for them to give me my $75 back. They had no clue who they gave it to.

I like to use my Paypal account if the website will accept it. If they do not, then I like to use my credit card for purchases. Credit card purchases protect us against fraud sites. sometimes I just use my bank debit card if I can because I trust the site that I am making a purchase from and I do not incur any fees that I incur when I am making a purchase with my credit card. I like to use whatever is the cheapest and easiest.

I've just recently started buying and selling online. I find it easiest to just use paypal for both. I like it because I don't have to worry about any fees or anything separately. Yeah, I have to pay them, but it's just coming out of the paypal account. It's not affecting my real bank account. I've made money from ebay and mylot and a couple of other places, so I can just use that for my shopping. It's almost like play money to me. I love paypal for that reason, and will continue to use them.

YES IT IS like play money. Sometimes it can be dangerous if you have the money because it is so easy to buy stuff.

As a buyer on Ebay and living in Canada, most of my purchases were done from the United States and every time I had to purchase a money order it would cost me approximately 5.00 for each money order purchased so obviously it started running into money. That's when I decided to apply for Pay Pal and that worked out well because sellers like to be paid as soon as possible and it cuts out the cost of the money order. I didn't have such luck when it comes to receiving a refund or payment buy as a buyer I would have to say Pay Pal is the way to go !!!

This is an excellent alternative. Selling through a store kind of like an ebay store. Will check out the site.

well my site is affiliated with amazon so whenever someone buys from my site they are really buying through amazon so however way amazon takes payments is how I make profit - which is very little since they do all the work there thanks check out my site too if you like sometime

I like PayPal. I'd rather them have my credit card numbers as opposed to every single person I ever did business with having it. I know they charge for sellers, but not as much as the other places you were checking out. 80c + 5.5% is crazy. I've never bought with a money order, but if I didn't have credit cards I would use money orders. I mean, you can buy them at the grocery store. I think if your product is good then people will buy, no matter how they have to pay for the merchandise.

So far it doesn't look like I am going to lose any business and if so it will be a small percentage. Thank you all for your responses

I think paying with Paypal is easier. With money orders and checks you have to do all that paper work, drive to the postal service and you have to wait long. With Paypal, you can do evrything straight from your house.

If a seller only accepts money orders, that just means they will get paid when I get to the store to buy a money order. Usually I forget and don't get it mailed out for a week.

I definitely prefer PayPal, it's quick, it's easy and it's safe! Not too keen on the way they charge you to retrieve your money, but I suppose they gotta make money themselves!

They make money off of the seller. They charge I think 35 cents minimum to the seller. Then they add a percentage after that. When I sell something on ebay and the buyer pays via paypal, they get about 33% of my total sales. =(

I prefer to use PayPal when paying online. Even when I purchase from a major company - like Barnes & Noble - I quite often will use Paypal.

I do too. It is easier for me because I always have money in my Paypal account. Why get out the wallet or purse look for the credit card. Then put in all of those #s. Hopefully all of the #s are correct and so on. Not a convenient way to pay. Paypal makes it very easy to pay online. They will also give you your money back if you do not get your items.

I use paypal only so far when I make online purchases it is safe, fast, and effective for me. I don't trust the other forms of payments yet. My sister bought a loadable debit card at rite aid and I am seriously looking into that to be able to make purchases on sites that do not take paypal. I try to shop online the safeest way possible and using a credit card,or bank account isn't one of them. I wish you luck on your site.
