What was the relevance of tonight's episode and Nikki & Paulo...in the big scheme of things??

The show was just a way for the writers to clear up a few questions we've been waiting to get answers for. Did you notice someone knew Nikki and Paulo were still alive but didn't say anything? That's because he couldn't. It was Vincent. Remember when he pulled the blanket off of them? Even though their pulse was so slow and they were paralyzed a dog can still detect the slightest sign of life. Think about how hypersensitive their senses are. ‹(°¿°)›

Whoa, good catch. I didn't even realize that was why he pulled the thing off. I thought he was just playin' around. LOL.

Does this mean that Vincent may try to start digging them out? You know the way Lost ends-maybe next week they find Vincent digging. Will they need Jack to help? How will they get him back from the others? I wonder...

I was thinking the same thing. It was a pretty decent episode but it was almost a stand alone type episode that had nothing to do with what is actually going on. It'll be interesting to see if they try and work it in somehow.

I was getting a little frustrated with Lost, but last night's episode was pretty good. A little creepy that Nikki and Paolo were buried alive. I still don't know how everything fits in. The story is getting so complicated that I forget some of the original stuff. I have terrible memory when it comes to tv shows.

Good Catch as always Jumpin'. I wondered if there was more of a reason why they kept flashing back to their faces. I thought last night's episode was pretty good too. I loved the flash backs they showed. It was fun to Arntz (ps?) again, before he exploded. It was also in interesting lookk at another little drama that was playing out around the more characters. Interesting that Sawyer threw the diamonds into the sand to be buried. Do you think it's because he's really turned a new leaf, or becuase he's resigned that they will never get off the island, so they have no value? Or maybe it's a little of both. Having them buried alive was pretty horrifying. But perhaps Vincent will dig them up in time. It looked like Nicki was just starting to come out of it. Then we'll get to watch them dig through the sand for the diamonds ;-) That should keep them busy for a while.

This episode further confirms the brilliance of "Lost". They were able to bring two ancillary characters to life with the back story, add depth to existing ones (Hurley = more assertive, Sawyer = more human), tie up loose ends from previous seasons (Charley "abducting" Sun), all the while spinning a morality tale (what goes around comes around) and then finish it off with a Poe-like ending. Wow! I bow to the greatness of the writers of "Lost"!

Everyone thought Nikki had said "Paulo lies" but what she really said was "paralize". I was shocked when they were buried alive.

Last nights episode was good, even thought I would call it a filler episode. I liked how they gave us the background information about this couple, but i think they killed them off because a lot of loyal lost fans didn't really like Nikki and Paolo. I think its freaky how they were buried alive, but if the dog unearths them, I don't think they would survive. I don't think there is much relevance in the big scheme of things, however it was a good way to appease the really loyal fans who were upset about nikki and paolo.

I too would have called this a filler episode. But what i found really intersting is what those two already knew. They found the sesna and the hatch before anyone. Which also means that the guy knew who Ben was before they had him in the hatch. And we saw how Ben and Julette knew they were going to manipulate Jack ahead of time. While watching the show I was like 'this is really weird'. What I want to do now is rewatch the pilot and see if we can 'see' Nikki in the background screeming for Paulo. Is that what the producers kept saying that we 'missed' something in the pilot?
