Would you let someone who knocked on your door asking to use your toilet because they were really desperate? They looked honest and kosher. Would you feel guilty in saying no and turning them away, what reason would you give for not letting them in?Or would you be happy to let them use your toilet because you felt sorry for them?

Well wolfie, being a very cautious woman who lives pretty much alone. I probably would tell them no. Too many stories of woman or men being hurt by strangers who have wanted to use the toilet or the phone. I would direct them to the restaurant down the road from us. I'm sorry to be that way. But better to be safe than sorry.

Funny you should ask! That very thing happened to me about twelve years ago. A middle-aged woman came to my door and knocked and asked if she could use my bathroom. She looked harmless enough, so after thinking it over a bit I said okay. When she came out shortly thereafter she proceeded to tell my fortune. Life has not been good since. My mother later told me that it was a foolish risk to take and I agreed. It is sad that things are so bad these days that I would be afraid to let anyone in.

I have had that happen to me, I was just leaving the entrance door to my building and this young woman approached me and asked me if I lived in that building and I replied yes, she asked me if she could use my bathroom as well as my phone. I didn't want to as I have this girl more than once begging for money on the street. So I told her that I wouldn't because I had made a promise to my daughter to not allow strangers into my home. But I did tell her where the closest building that had a public washroom, and because it was the welfare office it also had a pay phone as well. she seemed genuinely pleased and off she went, The reason I wouldn't allow her in as she could have easily over powered me and I know I don't have any thing of value other than my life, she didn't. So no I will and do refuse to help. In this day and age you are quite foolish if you do, at least in my opinion. Also I moved in to a locked building because it was more protected.

I do try to help people and be kind to all but I would have to say NO to them. I am cautious to let strangers in. I am afraid they would just be using this as an excuse to enter my house. I hope I do not sound mean or horrible but if they really needed a toliet that bad they should have gone to a public place and use theirs. Please do not think I am a bad or mean person. By the way great question.

No way... I have 2 small children and am a stay at home mom, so I am alone with them in the day. So, it wouldnt be smart for me to say yes. I wouldnt do that at all. Plus it'd be weird for someone in my neighborhood to do that as there is woods behind our homes and in front a feild with trees, many spots for someone who was desperate. So, I'd say no. I mught feel sorry for them, but not sorry enough to put my family in danger. =)

I probably would because that is the type of person I am , but I have gotten wary to fly people now and if there were two of them I would only let one in at a time so I could watch where they were going , I hate that the world has made us like this but that is the way of things nowadays sadly xx

This is really hard, I have three young children, so for their safety I think that I would have to turn them away. If my husband was home he would probably let them in. He's the type of guy that goes back for hitch hikers, stops to shovel old ladies sidewalks and changes tires. It's one of the traits that makes me love him and scares the pants off of me!

Hmm that is a difficult decision for me because much that I would like to the help the one in need, he/she is a stranger and I would be hesitant to allow them into the house. You never know they could be cons(honest looking) trying to rob me..lol! Well considering they aren't, I would let them in..maybe ;o) I'm still thinking wolfie........

We actually get alot of that from customers that come out to the ranch. We have facilities in the arena so I ususally direct the people there. Most don't want to go into the house because they are afraid of my dogs. lol. If only they knew what pussycats they were.

Oh JEESE that's a question and a half mate innit lol.. It really depends..I don't usually let any one in when I am alone because I have been mugged three times so once bittne twice shy..It all depends on the vibe I get.I couldn't quite give you a straight answer on that one..

Gee, that's terrible my friend. I rely on my vibes too, I can usually tell in a few minutes about a stranger and their intentions.

No I wouldn't. You never know what the person really wants. I have two little kids and wouldn't put them in danger, or myself, they need their mommy!! Someone should go to a gas station if they need to go that bad, they are everywhere...they shouldn't knock on someones door and expect to use a strangers bathroom!

Ok, If someone had come to my door, back when outside toilets were common (we use to have one in an old house we brought to revamp!), I'd have said no problem. But now knowing that they would have to enter the house, sorry no way! you just don't know what they could do to you or your toilet! I'd point them to the field opposite!

I am a student nurse and occassionally, we would be going to different communities (most often in slum areas). The people would always be trusting of us. You would often hear stories from my peers that they used the toilet of a client in the community. Of course that situation is different because the people know that our intention is good. Well unless the person is a really really good actor, I don't think he could fool me. hehehe... :-)

i would be saying no to this question. not that i am nasty but i cant trust anyone of the street as we hear in the newspapers everyday of people getting mugged, beaten, raped and even killed through their kindness. also i would be scared for my own safety

a bit strange incident but yes sure i would let them use my toilet iam sure thay too expriance an uneasy feeling asking to do that..and they would not do that if it was not urgent. so yes i would let them.. but as i know myself i would go on and do a major cleaning of the bathroom after that:0 o.k. dear wolfie now you really have to share what brought you to asking that question and how did you react when you had that case?:)

LOL, I don't think I would answer the door if it is a weird looking stranger. I don't live in a place where my house is the only toilet in a radius of 100km. It would be VERY strange for someone to come to my door to ask to use the toilet. My house is just not the most accessible around. Must be some trick. :P

Wow - if it was a child , then definitely but otherwise I am not sure - I would like to say yes but I would probably be too wary of why they were at my house asking! I live in a residential area that people don't tend to go for long walks in so I would be surprised if this did happen!
