I can't believe it once again another idol was kicked off and we still have Sanjaya Malakar. He is personable and a cute kid but I really don't think he is taking this competition very seriously. It's like a game to him, a form of amusement not a serious endeavor that could result in a very good career for him. How many more will have to go that want to be there and are taking it seriously before we lose Sanjaya.

I have been a devoted american idol fan since season one. This season is a total disappointment for me. Sanjaya needs to go. I think america has changed the competition completely. It's become a teeny bopper popularity contest. How many 12 year old girls can vote for the youngest (least talented) contestant? There have been many contestants that have been voted off that deserved to be there. After watching this weeks show, I'm not sure I want to watch anymore of it. Sanjaya wasn't even in the bottom three! He was one of the worst ones that night, not to mention his HORRIBLE hairdo! American Idol is no longer a talent competition. So sad, so disappointing.

I can not see why he is still there either, not for his talent anyway. But after seeing that young girl cry I realised he appeals to alot of the younger voters. He has fans and whether he sings well or not he will get their votes.

I think Sanjaya is getting pity votes, as well as votes from the Middle Eastern demographic and the 10-15 year old teeny bopper demographic, as evidenced by the hysterical girl in the audience who pretty much freaked out upon making contact with him. He's also featured on "votefortheworst.com", a site that tries to rally people to vote for the worst contestant in order to counteract the beginning of the show, where the producers use the bad auditions to attract an audience, kind of "teach them a lesson," so to speak. The thing about Sanjaya is that he's not an untalented kid. He's young, yes, but he has a pretty good voice, great stage presence, and a very genuine personality. Once the top 24 came around, he started making poor song choices, but he still manages to stand out and just all around be a pleasant contestant and that makes people like him. It DOES bother me that the likes on Sanjaya and Haley are still in the competition, when Chris Sligh and Stephanie Edwards are not. By no means am I saying that Stephanie or Chris S. was good enough to win the whole competition, but I personally think they should have made it a lot farther than Sanjaya, Haley, Phil, GINA, Jordin... I can see why they both were cut though. Stephanie was too much like Fantasia, with less of an annoying voice, but needless to say it's too late for her. Had she been in the same season as Fantasia, I would have voted Stephanie over her. It's too bad that her appearance on the show was so untimely. And Chris Sligh screwed up BAD on Tuesday night, I mean, it was blatantly obvious even to the untrained musical ear that he was not at all with the background music. It was like a weird time warp happening during his song. He had a nice voice and an amazing personality, but he just screwed up and got cut. I would be so upset to see Sanjaya or Haley outlast Blake, Chris, Melinda, or LaKisha. That is my final four, the AI dream team in my opinion. If they do, it is sincerely a joke and I hope that Sanjaya wins in that case, because American Idol will have no credibility as a talent search and will essentially be made into a joke. Literally, the week when Chris Richardson was in the bottom two, I was ready to start calling in for Sanjaya, because at that point, American Idol was truly a JOKE.

I saw the "votefortheworst.com" on my local news and was disgusted to see that Howard Stern had his hands in this. I think it's just so wrong to try to throw off votes, no matter what the vote is about. Sanjaya is an ok kid and he can sing, but I don't think he's star material at this time. Maybe in the future, but I don't see him as this season's American Idol. He should of been voted off about 4 weeks ago. But, every year a contestant gets voted off and people are shocked about it. Why should this year be any different. I am glad American Idol has chilled out on making a fool of the less fortunate participants.

I think sanjaya improved though. I guess because he's young, and he doesn't seem so confident that's why his previous perfomances weren't good, but he can actually sing. Maybe they should get rid of haley first, because I don't think she's as good as the other contestants.

I am questioning his motive, not his ability I think he is improving but I don't see the desire to really win. I know the best IDOL will win.

Well it is no suprise that Sanjaya is moving on for another week. Every single season there is a contestant that Idol watchers depises the most and continually stayed in the compeition to the point they would even make it to the top five! So far three people that can actually sing has left but like another poster mentioned, Sanjaya is using different ways to stick around (ie his rooster hair)that he knows will work to his advantage.

Yeay whats goin on?Why is he winning? I am worried if he will be an idol ultimately.Their winning or losing depends on the public(Americans) votes. So if he wins finally, the public has to blame for it.

I think Sanjaya is making the very best of his assets with his hair and song choices. He may be very young, but he is very serious about this and it's paying off for him in his votes.

I think Sanjaya can sing also, but the question is does he really want to. He doesn't demonstrate a serious desire. I just hope the rumors aren't true and there is a group just voting for him because he isn't that good. May the best Idol win.

I don't know if you know this, but I saw this a few week ago. Some website is out there trying to destroy American Idol by promoting the worst canidate rather than the best. The radio person Howard Stern got on this bandwagon and is helping promote this stupid idea on his radio show. I am hoping he will get voted off very soon because he has no talent!!

You know, i really don't understand why Chris Sligh was the one to go this time. Even if it wasn't Sanjaya, there were PLENTY of other contestants that deserved to be kicked off. (Hayley, the other Chris...) It really irritates me that Sanjaya is still there when someone as wonderful as Chris Sligh was kicked off. Sanjaya is adorable and seems incredibly sweet, but this is not a personality competition. It is a SINGING competition.

Its really strange that the americans are voting for Sanjaya although their are much better talents who are out and have overshadowed him......Sanjaya looks to be a nice guy,but this competition is meant for the best in the buisiness......I think sanjaya has a whole diffent image on american people.....

if you notice, sanjaya is not only cute, but also different. not so manly, but more towards feminine. i bet a lot of other guys like that vote for him. they want a different person of their kind to win this thing. or it could be that he came from a rich family that can afford to spend thousands voting him! it happened here in my country! the winner's dad even admitted that he borrowed money from friends to vote to make sure his son wins!

Really? who is Sanjaya malakar? is he an Indian. i didn't know that Indians are also making marks abroad cool. It's nice to know that an Indian is being Recognised on a platform such as "American idol".i can't believe it once again another idol was kicked off and we still have Sanjaya malakar. he is personable and a cute kid but i really don't think he is taking this competition very seriously. It's like a game to him. a form of amusement not a serious endeavor that could result in a very good career for him. How many more will have to go that want to be there and are taking it seriously before we lose sanjaya. No i think he is biggest contender of an American idol. kicking him out in recent times will be very difficult. cause he has got the skills every american idol should have in order to perform before the judges & an American Audience.n't believe it once again another idol before we lose Sanjaya How many more will have to make it very tough competition. How many more will have to go in order to save this sanjaya malakar.once again another idol was kicked off. it's very sad to know that he is taking this competition very seriously & not working hard for it.t's like a game to him a form of amusement not a serious competition.before we lose Sanjaya.

I think he must have some kind of fan base out there that likes him. Someone on this site mentioned that he appeals to young people and they are probably the ones who are voting. I think Chris Sligh was better than Sanjaya from the beginning and I don't think Chris should have been the one that got voted off. As to whether or not Sanjaya is serious, I don't know.
