Hoghoney here, and boy do I feel dumb. I just made a post to a discussion and I didnt see that the discussion was made 6 months ago until I finished my post and it only have 2 respondes to it and mine was the 3rd one and I went to this persons profile and that was the only discussion that they made and they have not logged in in 6 months what the heck is that. so I guess my thing about this is if they have not been here in 6 months do you think that MyLot should close their account out or just take their discussion out of the new user list of discussions.

-lol- i was able to respond to a discussion started 4 months back only because somebody responded to it an hour before i did, so i thought it was a recent discussion. :) i think discussions about a month old without any new responses should be archived already so that we can avoid responding to it. they definitely should not be in a new user category as you said. i'm not for deleting accounts inactive for 6 months. there must be a reason why users will suddenly take the time off from mylot. but it would be nice if they still have the option to go back to enjoying mylot once again. i'm for archiving old discussions with no new responses for quite some time. :)

I have no problem replying to an old discussion. I've responded to a discussion 8 months old, but the poster was STILL posting. And they were appreciative of the response. But if you join and don't come back after 6 months, odds are you aren't coming back at all.

I agree because it took my time to make a post to someone that will never see what I replyed to them and I could of used that time for someone else. thanks for the reply

I actually think that when a Member has not been on that long they should be deleted as they are obviously not coming back And yes I do believe that the Discussion should be deleted to

Hmm I've responded to such discussions too many a time...mylot should do something about inactive users. They could probably send a mail to such users and if they don't respond to that mail within a stipulated time they can delete the accounts. Those who are serious will come back right? Mylot can get rid of such users which will save them space ;o) But again maybe mylot wants all these users to show how popular the site is...the member count is now close to 85,000!

I had a discussion that I started over one month ago reignited, only yesterday, which was good. Was this under similar discussions? If not where did you see it? I think there should be an automatic closure of inactive accounts, and all activities removed.

I will get the name and let you know. but yes they should set the account aside til the person comes back and then if it goes any longer then maybe put them as inactive. thanks for the reply.

I think I would have to look at what the discussion was about. It could be very helpful or interesting whether the person still comes and posts or not.

my mom is a member but shehasn't bee on in a long time because she lost internet and then her computer tore up so it has been awhile and se is hoping they do not delete accounts.. I have severaldiscussions that have very few responses then one day it will get seval replies to it. So I am against deleting the discussions that have no answer becase ome day they might get one. I think if they remain offmylot for a year then yes their account should be deleted

I have wondered about that too. Now, sickness and a hospital stay can keep you away, as does a trip, maybe even for the summer. But SIX months? I would think the six month would be the turning point to deleting accounts.

I think if someone had not logged on to mylot fo more than 2 or 3 months, mylto sgoudl send an email to as kthem whether they would like to keep their accounts,if they do not logged on , mylot should cancel their accounts as your replies will not be read by the member forever, also it seems that it is important to cut down the numbers of inactive memebrs so that the total numbers of members will not rise so rapidly.

I think it is just some people come here and think that they are going to make the fast buck and it dont go that way and they just never come back. thanks for replying

I do think there should be a time when accounts are closed, but I DO feel that six months is too little. I once took a hiatus from a website I love for about that long, and if that happened with MyLot and I came back and my whole account and everything was deleted, I would feel horrible. Maybe eight months would be about right. And maybe after a shorter amount of times any discussions the person who hasn't logged in has made will stop appearing on the website, and only be listed in their profile or search results. I can see how this would get pretty frustrating so I agree! :)

thanks for the input I think that they should at least take them from the new user list.
