I just bought a brand new Brother

Sewing machine from a friend, she said she thinks she paid $55.00 for it, I just paid her $25.00, unopened in the box. I like to sew curtains, pillows, lace onto my daughters t-shirts, stuff like that. Did I get a good deal...I am thinking I did? It is awfully light, unlike my 1970's Montgomery Wards!

I have that machine. And yes, it is very light, I like a heavier older machine but this one is a good little machine. I also have a Brother XL 3010, which I like even better, my hubby got me this one at a yard sale for $20. The other I bought at WalMart for $74, and I thought that was a good price too. I do like the older, heavier built machines, those are metal and I think last longer than these plastic one do.

It's just basic zig zag and straight stitch.. .My mother in law got a Brother at Costco a few years back and it is awesome! I have taken my mending there when we go on visits... I am actually just happy to have a machine again! I am really going to enjoy adding lace and trimming to my daughters bluejeans and plain t-shirts! She is getting her own room real soon too and curtains, bedskirts and throw pillows are in the future! I just love doing stuff like that!

I think $25.00 is a good deal. I see sewing machine all the time at garage sale and thrift store for $55.00 to $60.00.

I just opened the box up and really took a good look at it. It is basic but runs smoothand straight...I am happy for now!

It sounds like a good deal to me, even if it only does the basic stitches. How very nice for you - I hope you have a lot of fun with it.

congradulations on getting your brand new brother sewing machine thats always something exciting i am still in the process of looking for a good sewing machine that i can afford they are just so expensive but i have not gone around and seriously priced them yet twenty five dollars was a great deal for you to buy it for i have heard nothing but good things about the brother sewing machine brand some other people on mylot have one and they brag about how great it is hopefull it will work wonders for you

Its good that you know stitching. I dont know stitching so i dont have the need to buy a sewing machine. Whats the original price of the sewing machine?
