I noticed something, my discussion topic with the easy topic 'How often do you wash your hair' gets more than 50 response, while my other discussion topic which is something that we have to think and not that easy, but interesting, 'Do you believe in afterlife' only gets one respond. What are your experience like?

Some people aren't here to discuss topics and share their thoughts but rather make money for responses. They try to get as many responses in a possible.

So true! I guess it's just easier to respond to questions that don't require much thought. Sometimes I find some of the questions here so boring. I'm browsing page after page after page for something interesting to respond to and sometimes I only find one or two that is interesting to me. I like quality discussions. Questions that are deep and answers with substance.

I share the same thoughts. Some questions or discussions which I think are kind of silly and do not have real substance, like "Are you a bag/shoes lady?", or "How often do you clean your face?", get more responses compared to those who require you to think and analyze. I thought when I joined here, the members should post "quality" discussions. So how come they get more responses?!

It is much easier to answer how many times do you wash your hair than to have to think of some really philosophical stuff. I answered both lol

my experience is quite the same. But i have never got 50 responses for any discussion. not even 10. For me most no of replies taht i have got is 9. may be i'm not very famoys here. And yes, u r right. Discussions on most easier topics get more responses than serious and lengthy discussions.

Hitting it on the number, I've experienced the same, and then try and say something about religion or the war, that will almost definitely get you quite a few responses guaranteed. Or what kind of ice cream you like or something frivolous. But that's human nature I guess. I think there is so much pressure and stress on everybody that they kind of try and avoid heavy issues, it reminds them perhaps of their immediate situation.

you are so true about the religion and war issue. i think 'controversial' and 'sensitive' issue tend to get more response. My rape related discussion got more than 50 responses... and hard for me to response back to their responses lol...

ya i also noticed that my friend. the more easier the discussion is, the blockbuster the result it will have. i think people just choose the discussions with light topics for them to really express their feelings. it is much easier that way than answering hard to answer discussions right? he he! even me, i don't want to make life tougher if there is a choice between tough and easy. god bless! :)

well i guess so too, i'm not much of a 'good idea' person, but if i can, i will try to at least participate in a more 'challenging' topics too, although my opinion/ideas are not that good. cheers

I know for some people, it is all about making money. So they answer these types of questions that require a short answer in which they can "post and run". But, I've actually found that the most popular topics are the ones that people have a strong opinion about. I started a conversation on getting tattoos that got a lot of responses. Also, I started a topic when I first started here on Mylot about perfume. Other people have started controversial topics that get a lot of responses. And, others just have a lot of friends that search out his/her posts every time the person starts a new discussion.

Yes, easy topic gets more responds...I have one that keeps going for 5 months and get 732 responds....probably, because it is so easy to respond...lol

I think it is still on top of my discussions now, because once a while someone brings it back.....you can see the number of responds....

Many times, it is because members can just type out the answer and move on to the next one by just answering the quick and easy discussions. If they are just here for the money, that is probably what they are thinking. Personally, I answer both. I tend to stick to the ones that do not require as much thought and concentration when I have my granddaughters here with me though, because between the two of them, I probably would not make any sense at all out of anything that took too much thought.

Fair enough, everyone will like soemthing easy which will not take them much time to think,if somethig is easy,it may just take them few seconds to finish, there is no point for them to try the hard ones, as they may not answer them good enough to get a positive rating, but in fact ,if they answer something with one line, no matter whether it is an easy discussion or not, they may not be able to get credit for that reply because mylot pay for quality.

First off, it was responded as it was because it was not obvious that you had a trick in mind. It's like the "When was the War of 1812 fought?" question. People often get that wrong because they don't think the obvious answer is possible. After your hint, I'd have to say that your "right" answer is still wrong. A cub is still a bear, hon - just like a puppy is a dog and a baby is still human. Even the smallest crumb of bread is still bread.

borzack, I've been noticing this as well. Being fairly new to MyLot and still trying to figure it all out, it seems you're right on the money. Some really stupid posts like which is better: Yahoo or Hotmail? gets tons of responses, and anything requiring much thought is passed over or gets a single answer. Honestly, I wonder how come MyLot does not pounce on some of the strange topics I have seen, or the one line nonsensical answers I have seen, and clean it up a bit...but it's their site not mine. I've read some really great responses to your question here and glad to see I am not alone in my thinking. Another thing I have noticed is that it seems "taboo" to state your opinion in a non-threatening manner when it "differs" from the view of the majority. Agree with everybody and you're golden....state your true feelings and you're in for a "-" in a hurry.
