I just tried to post a comment on my lot and for the first time I got a note saying that they could not post it because I did not use standard letters, numbers, or punctuations.
I have never been really good with always knowing where to put a common or punctuation marks, but other than that I don't see anything wrong with what I posted. I did not know that you had to be an english scholar to post on Mylot.
They also dropped my approval rating from 9 to eight. They say in the guidelines that they understand that everyone can't communicate perfectly, but then they penalize me for not being perfect. Has this ever happened to anyone else? If so, what did you do about it?

I had this happen to me and it was because I'd used a 'greater than' sign and a 'less than' sign in my text.
I was trying to explain XML (a computer 'language') to users and these two sumbols were in the code.
I'm not sure whether I lost any 'points' for doing this - I don't think I did - but it did dump the whole message!

I ran into that, too, trying to use those signs in a pictograph. But I used them again in another pictograph a few days ago, and it went through no problem.
Let's see if this little fishie flies...

Ain't it annoying when your writing a long post and mylot dumps the whole message? I think that's what makes people want to get to the 500 post milestone soon. I think that makes some of the posts inferior in quality since most people are just posting for the sake of posting. I think mylot should decrease their minimum to around 250. That's fair aight?
(The 500 milestone is that when you get to 500 posts you can copy and paste)

I just had the same thing happen. First time I have ever seen that on here. I think it was a glitch. Hopefully it won't happen again. I don't think it has anything to do with our spelling or punctuation. There are to many people on here whose English is not very good so that would hurt them if it had to be perfect. They are trying to learn. I lost what I was posting and it was a long post so I am upset that it happened. LOl...

I read your this posting and come to know that what is this star and the rating system?! I was surprized seeing this 8 with star so I was thinking about to ask to mylot team! Now it is clear to me! you got even a message regarding that! I did not get such message also!
I think you can ask mylot team that why this is happening and for which kind of process you should do to stop this downfall in rating!

I have suffered a lot due to unknown problems on mylot. Suddenly some of my responses are deleted . some day my discussion is gone. I'm confused about what all is happening here on mylot. My rating dropped from 9 to 7 straight away. I'm gradually working on improving my ratings. But as you know it's easy to scroll down then going up. It's hard for me to even get to 9 star ranking . Anyway don't feel nervouse just post some lengthy discussions and lengthy responses on topics you like and you will be soon in 8's and 9's.

I had the same thing happen to me and since I am a new user without 500 posts, I couldn't copy and paste and had to re-type everything...needless to say I only put the basics on, I wasn't messing with re-typing everything.

I have never got such a message denouncing the low quality of my posts . But my approval rating also got reduced from 10 to 9. I don't know the reason .

never heard of it, but then i got penalized right away for having a more personal web page, lol. hope they do not hit me for punctuation, lol, i will be kicked out.

You're not alone. I had the same thing happen to me about a week ago when I was trying to upload an image. I think it is just a standard error message, and doesn't necessarily have anything to do with your typing. My rating went down one point, too, but went back up the next day.
Just a few minutes ago, I tried to answer a response to one of my posts, and got a message that myLot was temporarily down for repairs. So it could have to do with that, too.

Before i read this, i didn't even know you have a rating number! After i post this i will see my rating number for the first time! I Hope it's big :)), even if it's not i don't care! Well i care if that affects my payment! Anyhow, i thing your English skills are high and anyone could understand what you want to say. I thing this online community doesn't need perfect English writers but people who can express them self in writing good enough to be readable! We already use a different English when we speak with our friends over the internet, and thats works just fine! Why do we need good English writers hear! Anyhow there is much easier to understand our English than their English, with all the perfect words and stuff, commas and others!
