We are going to buy a computer; my hubby suggested it is better to buy a Laptop instead of a computer. But I think the proper computer can be upgraded. What is your opinion?

I am actually in the market for a new computer myself. What works best depends on what you want to do with it. For me personally I like both, and I am lucky enough to have both LOL. A desktop generally is going to have more memory so you will be able to store more information. But at the same time if you want mobility like wireless internet you want to get a lap top. My favorite is when i get to work from home, and sit out by the pool with my lap top. When it comes to price a desktop is usually cheaper, unless if you get one with all the bells and wistles. Good luck!

if you are looking for better speed and performance and have enough space at your home i would recommend you to go for a desktop. if you are looking for portability, then of course go for the laptop.

Thanks for sharing your view. We finally bought a desktop and extra external Hard Drive, as it is more practical.

If you don't have to take the computer with you, if it is only to work at home, then I suggest you to buy a computer. They can be easily upgraded and the usually are cheaper. If you need mobility then you have to go to the laptop.

if both of you are gonna use teh computer, then i suggest that you buy a desktop computer. but if it is for the sole purpose of business, then a laptop will become necessary. now take your decision. mike the lil smiley devil

In my opinion, if you put it in your home, you should buy a computer, and if you take it for business, I suggest you buy a laptop, because it's convenient.

Hi Madona,at first you need to know the purpose of buying this new computer. Are you buying to play game? or to surf net, and some multimedia enjoyment? how often you stay at home? or you always travel and need to work outside? If you buy computer to play game and always stay at home, then i would suggest you to buy a "Desktop". On the other hand, if you always travel and require less game performance, i will suggest you buy a labtop. But anyhow, "upgrade" should not a big deal because computer hardware get cheaper and cheaper, somemore , those labtop with latest specs is able to play game in high performance. Henc eyou dont need to worry so much on the "upgrade" part. At last, my suggestion is all depends on your "USAGE" , not "UPGRADE". Hope this help.

It depends on your needs for the computer. Do you want to travel with the computer? Do you want to upgrade later? Is space limited? If you want to upgrade later: Laptops cost more to upgrade because of their small size. Items are more expensive and perhaps you don't have the know-how to install it in a laptop. Travel/Space: If space is limited or you plan on doing lots of travel with the computer then a laptop will be wonderful. A laptop takes up less space than a traditional computer and can travel much easier as well. Theft/Security: Be sure if you get a laptop to be very careful never to leave it alone especially in a public place because it could be stolen. At airports they want to scan laptops separately and you have to take it out of your bag. That could cause scratches or damages if the workers aren't careful. You may want to consider insurance on your computer. A + to you, Pablo
