I saw your post and I had to respond. I have had a problem with neighboring dogs for years. It used to be a very BIG problem for us. I couldn't keep the trash picked up for dogs turning the cans over and dragging the bags EVERYWHERE!! We live in the country so most people just let their dogs go free, and some of our neighbors just don't care what their own place looks like so their dogs roam freely. We tried calling the sherrif's dept. and humane society, no one could help us, they said we couldn't shoot the dogs either, but I didn't really want to hurt the animals, I just wanted to quit having to pick up garbage everyday. My husband finally bought me some garbage cans that we could use those bungee straps on, and we were finally able to get a rest from it. It has been quite awhile now since they have gotten into the trash. We've tried those LOUD horns too, this is a great discussion topic, I will watch it for replies as well.

It sounds like you live in an area like where we live. We also live in the country and there are alot of stray animals around here. We don't have any kind of animal control either. We have had dogs and cats dig off our screen doors. I called the law also and they told us there is nothing we can do about it. People drop off their animals back here all of the time. One dog had only one eye and every time we would go out of the house it would sit there and growl at us. We couldn't leave or check the mail without that dog growling. My husband finally got tired of trying to shew it off. He finally just shot the poor things and put it out of its misery. That dog would have ended up biting us if we continued to allow it to stay around here. I wouldn't poison the dog, but I would put them out of their misery so you can get some peace of mind.

what about the garbage cans that handles lock up over the lid and hold it shut? we have some of them and they usually stay on if the can gets knocked over. could you catch the dogs and drop them off at a humaine society or something like that? just some ideas.
