How long do your kids nap for and how old are they? My 2 year old is starting to not want a nap, but clearly needs one because if he doesn't take it, by bedtime he is a sobbing, cranky mess! When he does nap though it's usually for an hour and a half. My infant is even worse! He pretty much sleeps through the night but only takes about 3-10 minute naps during the day, so thirty minutes of naps total and he is always so tired! Sometimes he even gets red circles under his eyes! I feel terrible, but he is th lightest sleeper, any little noise and he is up! And with 4 kids I cant really soundproof the house, lol. So just wondering how long your kids napped for, how old are they, and how old when they gave up a nap altogether, thanks!

My son is 1 1/2 and he naps for a couple hours in the afternoon. I don't know what I'm going to do when he stops, that's how I get my chores done. It's like a mad dash to do stuff once his head hits that pillow.

My daughter is soon to be 4 years old and she usually nap in the afternoon. She takes almost two hours. But this past few days, she is quite cranky when it comes to take a nap. So when she doesn't sleep in the afternoon. She sleeps early in the evening and wake up late at night. So it's quite difficult when it comes to bedtime. (^^,)

My daughter is 2 1/2 and she rarely takes naps anymore. She quit taking them when she turned 2. Trust me she needs them! My son is 15 months and he takes a 2 hour nap everyday.

My 14 month old still takes two naps a day. He only sleeps for about 8 hours before he gets up the first time, though. Then he stays awake for about 1.5-2 hours and then has a nap that usually lasts for about 2-2.5 hours. Then he's awake for about 5 hours, and has another 2 hour nap.

My almost 3 year old still naps about 1 1/2 to 3 hrs a day. He loves his sleep and I believe good naps improve sleeping at night too. He didnt use to nap as long when he was younger, he had to learn to do so. I would still put him to bed even if he didnt go straight to sleep. In the end he learned to put himself to sleep and sleep through. He clearly needs his naps and gets very grumpy if he doesnt have them.

My four year old still takes a nap or two a week for about 2 hours. If she doesn't nap she likes to lay down and watch a movie in the afternoon. My son is 13 months and he goes down for a nap every day at about 1 and sleeps til we leave to pick up my oldest from school which is at 3. I am hoping it is a while before he decides that he is thru with his naps as I really appreciate the down time in the afternoon to get stuff done or relax myself.

All 3 of my kids stopped wanting the nap around 2 1/2 years old. My youngest is dealing with this struggle right now. I do try to get her to quiet down a bit and rest by letting her watch a movie in our bedroom. About every 3 days, though, her tiredness sneaks up on her, and she crashes about 5 pm on the couch. We let her sleep for about an hour or so, because anymore than that, and we'll be up until midnight with her. LOL! Where do you have the baby napping? I found my children slept better in their swing than their cribs. A car seat, too, was an excellent choice if the swing wasn't available. Best wishes, and I hope that your children get their rest! :)

When my daughter was a baby she very seldom took a nap. She didn't need one so I didn't bother. My middle son required naps because he would get cranky if he didn't get one. Normally his naps were no longer then an hour though. My third child is 5 and there are alot of days that he still wants to take a 30 mintue nap atleast. If he doesn't get a nap then he will usually start falling asleep around 6.

I stopped giving my kids naps around the age of 2. I find that life is soo much easier without naps! You can go anywhere at any time and not worry about missing nap time! Right now though I have 2 little ones who need to sleep! my 17 month old Hates to nap, but if I lay with him he is out cold within 5 minutes. He usually sleeps from about 1:00 - 3:00 and will head to bead for the night at about 8:00. my 3 months old naps all through out the day for anywhere between 10min - 4 hours. And he always sleeps at night! 9:30/10:00 - 6:00. Today he slept until 8:00!! woohoo!!

My son is almost 4 and he still takes a 1-2 hour nap in the afternoon after lunch. They do naps at daycare so he is used to them and actually needs them. Because I don't have other kids it is usually easy to get him to nap and stay asleep. I have a sound machine in his room that makes cricket noises, wind noises, water noises or plays CDs. This helps to decrease the loudness of whatever happens outside his room.

My kids are beyond the nap age, but heaven knows I wish I had somebody around to make me take a nap, LOL. Seriously, if your two year old can't sleep, you can still have him lie down and watch a video or listen to music for a while so he at least gets some rest. I would try this when your little one goes down for a nap, and set the older child up for his rest time in a room far away from your infant. Hopefully, this might help them both to be more rested.
