we are expecting a big storm with flooding.being as our weather casters are almost always wrong,i'll believe it when it's here.
that said,i still had to do the emergency biddy shopping-which usually consists of mom's staples-milk,bread and coffee.
what do you consider on your "must-have food in case of storm" list?(food only-not things like batteries)

We never bother buying anything to have in emergency for food. Although we have some bad storms, and bushfires, it never really gets the stage where we can't go out & buy food.
It will happen eventually though, & I will be caught out.
It's a good idea to have an emergency supply. I would consider flour, dried milk powder, tinned & dried food.

we seem to be having more floods in the last 10 years-i think it may be due to them tearing up watersheds and building in low lying areas.
the natural course of things is messed up.
the worst is still the snow,we get buried.

I like to stock up on snacks, which is probably something that I shouldn't do. If the storm is due to hit on the weekend, then things like potato chips and bagel bites. Oh, and I can't forget my Evian! I gotta have lots of that. :)
I've also been known to cook a big, hearty meal--something like meatloaf or stew--that will last a good two or three days.

I'm in New England too- has this winter not been the oddest one ever? No snow on Christmas, but we had some for Easter!
Anyway- I like to have a couple of bottles of water, some canned ready-to-eat food and some comfort food snacks for the kids. If we're expecting a long lasting snow storm, I also grab or make some ice (depending on how much notice I have since I don't always watch the weather report) to keep the perishables I already have cold in the cooler or I just pack the freezer with the extra ice.

An update from up nawth. Well, the 2 feet of snow never materialized. But, some hardcore wind did and a bunch of rain, causing a tree to materialize sticking out of my roof. That and a power outage that they claim may last for the next 32-48 hours. So my daughters and I are at my parents a few towns away for the night. Hope everyone else is doing ok. Take care and be safe out there.

Here's the thing with my wife and I. Once we both were employed and ever since I can't recall ever NOT having staple foods in the house. We shop every single weekend. I mean to say that I never have to worry about rushing out in a natural disaster to buy the necessary things required for such. We always have plenty of food canned goods included. I have many many flashlights that work with batteries also. We have plenty water in bottles also. It's not that I am worried about anything happeniong it's just the way of life we lead actually. So much food in fact that every weekend my daughter visits she shops from our cupboards. Hahaha. Thanks for this discussion also.
HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

Northern new hampshire here. They're talking about 2 feet of snow for us. No big deal i guess. As long as we dont get alot of wind we'll be ok. I have enough to get through a few days anyway. The store isnt that far from here so if i have to i can get to the store
