How do you remove a tick?

With spring already here, my kids and dogs have had ticks on them. I've had some experience in removing them once they've embedded themselves, which can happen very quickly. I'm interested in what methods you use.

sarahm168 I've heard so many methods, using a hot match, putting a drop of oil over the insect to "drown" it. Truthfully, the only method that works and is the "proper" way to remove a tick is use a pair of fine pointed tweezers. You grab the tick as close as possible...

sarahm168 If money were no object, I would definitely go to Australia. It seems like such an interesting country with so many different things to see and do. Because it is on the other side of the world from where I live it would definitely be once in a lifetime!
