Why the catholics worshiping images?

I am a catholic but there are many things that I'm wandering about the rituals specially in worshiping Statues.As we see there are many statues in the church statues of Saints, Images of Mary and so on. It is IDOLATRY?

My religion is Hinduism and iam hindu, many says that Christian is the best religion we ever have. SOme says that Jesus will fulfill whatever our dream is. SOme says even chronic disease is being cured when we follow christainity....
