My Recommendations especially for MyLot users

Photos too small?

** Join Shareapic to display them full size!**

(You earn 22 cents for every 1000 views and you can add your Bidvertiser code to your page, too. )

Use LinkBucks or Ad.Fly to shorten your links in discussions

Of course, you should never post referral links in MyLot discussions but there are plenty of legitimate reasons for posting links - to quote copyright material or news items, for example. LinkBucks allows you to do this AND earn a little every time someone clicks on the link! There are plenty of other places where you might use this, for example in your blog, on your website, on your profile (as I do) or when posting ads in Vinefire ...

Vinefire is a program that allows you to view and post adverts for your moneymaking opportunities

Join Vinefire!
The $$$ you earn from the site are 'notional' and calculated on the value of the site. They propose to pay their members when they sell the site, possibly later in 2009.

I'll get instant credit for everyone who clicks on the banner above and joins Vinefire
If you join through this link, thanks! You could be earning the same if you do as I do!

We are Ranked FIRST on TrafficSword.com

Do you research your discussions and responses?

Most people can earn a few pence for each search they do with My HomePages Friends!

My Homepages Friends:

Get paid for what you do every day anyway!

My Homepages Friends, formerly My Search Funds, is a system that pays you for the searches that you do. If. like me, you use search engines every day to find information, getting paid to do it is a real bonus! They currently pay just over 2 pence per search (nearly 5 US cents), a little less if you don't live in the English-speaking world. There is athree tier referral scheme which pays 10%, 5% and 2.5% at each level below you. Membership is growing fast sosign up now to be in with a chance of getting your own referrals!

But I don't do a lot of searching ...

Don't you? Maybe you should be using the Internet more efficiently! Think for a moment ...

 • How do you find discussion topics for MyLot? Using Internet searches often suggests really good discussion topics (don't just copy them, however, make them your own!)
 • How do you research your answers? Don't forget that responses with 'meat' are better responses and often earn 'Best Answer'
 • Do you need photos to illustrate your topic? (Make sure that any photos you use aren't copyright!)
 • Do you write elsewhere (Helium or other sites)? A well-researched article is vital! Get the facts - then organise them and write them in your own way
 • Do you write a blog? My Homepage Friends has quick links to the latest hot search topics. Research and write about these (if you can) to get noticed!
 • Maybe you need free software or help for a problem
 • What is the best weather site?Where can I find a recipe for salmon and sweetcorn?Who was Uther Pendragon?
 • ...

The list is endless ... once you think of things to look for, you will start thinking of more! I find that I make about 12 searches a day on average, just doing what I would be doing anyway! That amounts to about 8.00GBP ($12) a month. That's more than half my Internet bill, I think! WOW!

Is it safe? Are you sure it's not a scam?

Yes, it's safe. There is a small (optional) download which is an automated script that simply makes it easy to set My Homepage Friends as your default search engine. It isn't spy ware (I checked) nor does it do anything nasty to your PC! In fact, if you don't want to modify your default search engine, you don't have to. You can simply set it as your home page or bookmark it and use that page to do all your searches.

One always wonders if systems like this are genuine and will eventually pay what they promise. I have seen evidence that people have been paid in the past and the whole tone of the website seems honest and straightforward. Even if they go bust and don't pay (not very likely, by the look of things), they haven't asked me to do anything I would not otherwise have done anyway, so I shall at least have lost nothing!

And another way of earning money ...

Here are two things which might be worth investigating if you want to increase your self-assurance and make use of the 'Power of Attraction'

Be free of unwanted fear

owlwings responded to a discussion called Camera eats the battery!!!! in digital camera.

The only sensible option for digital cameras is rechargable batteries. I have two sets of four AA 2400aH batteries - one set in the camera and one set in the case which I always recharge at the earliest opportunity. If I am going away on a trip and expect to take a lot of photos, I will also buy some Duracells in case of emergency. If your camera has an optical viewfinder, you can save a gre...

owlwings responded to a discussion called Why should the wedding ring be worn on the fourth finger? in life.
A pretty legend but complete rubbish, I'm afraid! I can separate my ring fingers (and all the others one by one as you suggest) and everyone else I have tried it with can, too. I agree that the ring fingers are slightly more difficult but it's certainly not impossible. I tried it with a pianist and a guitarist (who you would expect to have more individual control of their fingers) and with p...

I think I would like a hundred or so square miles near the Prescelli mountains in Pembrokeshire. There are beautiful beaches with caves and cliff walks, safe sailing (I like to watch rather than sail, though I'm not averse to boat trips if someone else is crewing), a quite pretty little town (Tref Draeth) with several nice pubs and restaurants, leafy lanes where one occasionally comes across ca...

How sad to have been put down so much, Cynthiann, that you couldn't believe your husband when he told you the truth! The fact is that not everyone can be called pretty but every one of us has some beauty, which is sometimes only visible to the right people - the ones that matter, of course. One of the best ways of finding a person's beauty is to call it out by telling them they are beautifu...

For ripping CDs I use Audiograbber (free) which does a good job and rips to MP3. It is also pretty good at finding the CD in its database and naming the track correctly. Using Audacity for that job would be a last resort because it can only record at the actual speed. It is useful for recording from records, tape and other sound sources, though. Audacity is mainly a simple editor; Audiograbb...

It's a troll who has a grudge against another MyLot member. It happens from time to time and they get removed fairly fast, usually.

Omar Khayyam is how it's usually spelled. Khayyam means 'tentmaker'. Finding the quotation inspired me to do a little research and re-reading. I find I shall probably have to buy a book of the Rubaiyat (preferably with Fitgerald's very poetic adaptation - hardly a translation - alongside the Farsi and a literal English version). What I have found on the Internet seems rather poor, so far, thoug...

owlwings commented in a discussion called Buying a bran new laptop or a refurbished one from ebay of the same kind? in laptop.
I completely agree with writermom. There are certain things which I would buy from eBay - but I would always check the seller's rating very carefully first. I have also bought several things through Amazon (digital cameras and external hard drives, for example). For something like a laptop, though, I would prefer to buy new and pay a little extra to get it from a local store to which I could re...

owlwings received a best response in the discussion Questions about "God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen" by myylot.

The couplet you refer to is:This holy tide of Christmas All other doth deface. This means: 'The holy time of Christmas surpasses/wipes out/replaces all others.' 'Doth' is part of the verb 'to do' (3rd person singular, in this case ... as: 'I do', 'Thou dost', 'He doth', 'We do', 'You do', 'They do'. It is an old English form which was current in the 17th Century and had actual...

How are you with your 'body image'?

Why is it that women always seem to be more dissatisfied with their body image than men? They are just as good people and men just accept them as they are. Do we ever tell you straight out that...

Do you ever feel that you are only an "extension' of other peoples' thoughts"?
