peavey responded to a discussion called Do you have or have seen a carnivorous plant? in gardening.

Yep, I used to have a Venus Flytrap. It was so cool to watch it "eat" a little piece of ground beef. I don't remember what happened to it, but that was a long time ago. I've been thinking about getting my daughter in law one for Christmas, since she likes things like that, too.

peavey responded to a discussion called frugal and easy recipes in frugal living.

I'd like to try that recipe, too! I have several favorites when it comes to frugal and easy recipes but this one always goes over well: 4 eggs, beaten 1/2 cup milk Two medium dill pickles, diced 1/4 cup onion, diced 1/2 cup cheddar or swiss cheese, diced or shredded. Mayonnaise Add the milk to the eggs and scramble them in a hot skillet. Leave the eggs in the skillet and add ...

peavey responded to a discussion called Help! My hair is falling out! in health.
There are several reasons your hair could start to fall out. The most common is hormone imbalance. Sometimes that's caused by thyroid problems but other times by adrenal gland insufficiency. Other times, our bodies just get out of whack and will soon balance themselves again. Overwashing your hair, using harsh shampoo or brushing too much will cause it, too. If you keep losing hair over...

peavey responded to a discussion called Are You making your own bread? in cooking.
I enjoy baking bread, but like others, I don't do it in the summer time. Now that the weather is cooling down, I'll be baking more often. I should bake enough in the spring to freeze for summer, but I never think of it. Homemade bread tastes so much better than commercial bread, and it's better for you because it doesn't have all the other stuff in it.

Now, that's the way to sell produce! I'm doing the happy dance right along with you. [em]lol[/em]

peavey responded to a discussion called Do you ever put things together to see what you can make? in cooking.
I do things like that a lot and seldom really follow a recipe. I just start thinking of what would taste good together and the next thing you know I'm cooking or making something. Most of the time it turns out good, but I've had a few flops.

peavey responded to a discussion called I'm Sick of It! in crafts.

Oh, you're not alone! I have a quilt I started a couple of years ago that I put back until I could get more material... and I have seven tea towels to embroider. I loved the pictures when I stamped them, but just can't get into embroidering them. I bought enough yarn to make my daughter in law a throw for Christmas and now I'm looking at it, going, "What was I ever thinking??" I don't want to s...

peavey responded to a discussion called I don't believe you can make money online. in make extra money.
You can't make a lot of money doing pay to click or surveys, but you can make some. I save the money I do from things like that for Christmas. Last year I spent over a thousand dollars, and that's not counting the gift cards. This year I've bought myself a canner and a digital camera from gift cards and still have quite a bit left. Working things like that won't make the average person a li...

What have you done to downsize?

Downsizing means getting rid of excess things to me. I keep getting rid of things and the house is not as cluttered as it was. I'd like to have a smaller house, but the market for houses is bad here...

Plastic canvas needlepoint

Does anyone do plastic canvas needlepoint? I used to do it all the time, but I guess I burned out on it. I still like it, but don't have much time for it, it seems. Plastic canvas is a really...

What do you do when you get tired of cooking?

Even those who love to cook must get tired of the day in, day out sort of cooking sometimes. Do you eat out? Buy convenience food (frozen dinner or pizza)? Talk someone else into cooking for you?...

How long does your library allow you to keep books?

Ours used to let us keep them for two weeks, but we had a week "grace period," and if we returned them during that time, we wouldn't get charged for it. They changed it to three weeks lending...
