too tired of being "too young"-answer a teen's raging hatred for the world

Just now I realized the effects of being "too young". I was applying for a job in a fast food chain and I was almost rejected because I am under age (I am only sixteen). I desperately need that job and it will cause too much pain if I will be rejected just because my age doesn't reach the legal working bracket. i just realize that there are so many things that a "child" can't too and i hate my age for that. The age that I am in is an adjustment period. I am still in the phase of "somewhere in between". Do you know how frustrating it is to be neither an adult nor a kid? Everybody expects you to act mature and responsible yet when you try to act as mature as possible, these people will tell you that you are too young! That is just so frustrating... I mean where do we stand? We youths question the policies and unwritten world of our own society and environment in order to organize our own identity and sense of self but some grown-ups stereotypes us by saying that we are rebels and know nothing better. We try to explore our own world and yet you hold us back! and when we tend to retreat, you push us too hard! We try to ask questions before we jump into discussions but you either dismiss our questions as irrelevant or ignore us completely. What is much worse, asking questions or committing irrevocable mistakes? We try to shout out loud and proclaim our hurts but you muffle our voices by discrimination. I am not condemning anybody. I am just expressing my opinion. You are free to contradict, confront or support me if you want to do so. Just don't insult me

Not sure where you are from but in Britain people can work from 16 (in fact I think they can legally leave school at 15...). They can work, they pay taxes (although it is less than when they hit 18), they can get married, have children... But they cannot vote! How is it that the government is happy to take money from 16 and 17 year olds but not allow them to vote on who is in said government? Oh, and they have real problems getting financial help because, though they can work, have children and pay taxes, they are still considered minors; still dependants. How? *struggles with words* Good luck with job though!
