ShardAerliss responded to a discussion called English is an odd language in questions & answers.

As far as I'm aware it's to pull a face, now mostly only used to describe the competitions that are held for gurning. What was the context? Huh, wiki says it's also a word used to describe teeth clenching associated with drug use.

I'll not talk about what happens to Patrick, as you're way behind (ep 14 airs tomorrow in the USA), but about Lisbon being shot and having to tell van Pelt to call for back-up; to be fair to van Pelt, she did just shoot and kill her fiancée. I think she's allowed to be a little slow to respond.

Good girls? What on Earth is a good girl?

I like Noel Fielding when he's on Never Mind the Buzzcocks, but I've never liked his own shows. The trailers for Luxury Comedy look awful. As a friend said, who is a huge fan, Luxury Comedy looks like he's trying to hard. I try not to be too influenced by trailers though, for films or TV shows. The trailer for Buffy was AWFUL. Made it look like Sweet Valley High with vampires. The trails for...

ShardAerliss commented in a discussion called Parents decided to hide their child's gender for 5 years in people.
I think that was pretty much the jist of it, yes. I don't understand why forcing a child to adhere to traditional gender stereotypes is a good thing. Why is it so important to tell a child "you are a boy, you will like cars and blue" or "you are a girl, you will like pink and dolls"? I mean, those are pretty big assumptions. IIRC, and if this is the same couple I am thinking of, they did not...

What he would have done isn't the point; she just killed a person she lovd. could you do that and still function?

I don't think you're quite grasping the whole empathy thing.

And if the person who you just shot because they tried to shoot you, who you have just discovered is a complete and total lie and in fact is working for your enemy, IS the most important person in the world to you? If your entire world just got turned upside down? If everything you believed just turned out, in a violent and horrible way, to be a fabrication? Yeah, you might be just a tiny bi...

Why do we fight going to bed?

Or am I the only one?

Why do only good looking people get lead roles in movies and TV shows?

This seems to be something a lot of people are asking. The argument goes; all these beautiful (be they airbrushed or not) people are giving us average folks (without personal trainers) a crisis of...
