I actually did my dissertation on human destruction myths.
There are, as always, many theories as to why so many cultures should have similar tales, and similar versions of the end of the world predictions.
One is that it is a 'memory' of a certain glacial period, when the world was warming, sea levels were rising and 'floods' were occurring in coastal areas (which is wear early humans TE... |

I'd beg to differ sir, though I am by no means a hater of men or religion (though I'll admit I dislike the concept of religion as it stands today).
And just to make sure... if I make any stupid remarks or mistakes; it's 3am here!role of a leaderNot sure what this has to do with love, except for the question "is it better, as a leader, to be loved or feared?"You admit yo... |

Once again I am being ignored.
Why would you post something on a forum if not to discuss it? I'm not arguing, I'm discussing and debating... this is a constructive action and one I find very useful in cementing my beliefs, one way or the other. |

Agree with you on most points... but...
Wyclif's Bible is the oldest full translation (well, group of) into English... though it is Middle English.
The Tyndale is next (which was burnt, as was Tyndale), being Early Modern English and translated directly from the Hebrew and Greek texts (or so we think). Though the KJV is mostly Tyndale, with some tweaking... makes you wonder why they bothe... |

Absolutely hilarious and thought provoking, as usual... but I think you may have missed the point.
I think (and it's 2am here, so forgive me for getting this wrong) that woo wishes to read the Bible to understand the thoughts of those who hold the Bible as their holy book... the same reason I've been trying to read the Quran (soooo boring) and the Tenakh (not even got past the Torah). |

Bah, Young's is prettier.
KJV Gen. 1-4:1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.
3 And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.
4 And God saw the light, that is was good: and God divided the light from the da... |

Sound's like a poor man's version of Dante's Inferno...
Please, get off your high horse and open your mind to fact that what you have there is a BELIEF and nothing more... You can prove none of what you claim is truth.
Oh, and go read Inferno... it's far superior. |

Speaking of brains... I wonder how many people know that squids and octupi have 'brains' in their tentacles? That's right... all that lovely calamari, those yummy squid rings... brains. |

Eee... I get migraines a lot. Have you ever tried ginger? A friend recommended it to me recently as a curative measure. About half an inch of fresh stem ginger sliced up nice and thin (or grated) in a mug of hot water, steep and sip.
It usually takes between 30 and 60 minutes to kick in, but it has killed dead 90% of my migraines. |
