Edwards hoping to win by a hair?

Edwards Haircut - Worth $400.00?

At first when I heard about the $800.00 for 2 haircuts I was shocked. I still am. How could anyone spend that much on a haircut. This subject was brought up today in "The View" and one of ladies said I wonder how much Hillary spends on getting the highlight in her hair, bet it's a lot more!. I did not know that beauty care was paid from political contributions did you? Do you think that is an outrageous amount for a hair cut? WASHINGTON — Former Sen. John Edwards, whose wind-swept look has drawn its share of comment in the presidential race, evidently took time out from his campaign to stop at the barber shop. But this wasn't your basic haircut. Rather, Edwards apparently visited Torrenueva Hair Designs in Beverly Hills, Calif., owned by celebrity stylist Joseph Torrenueva. And he paid Rodeo Drive prices. Twice. According to his campaign-finance report, Edwards' campaign spent $400 at the salon Feb. 20. Two weeks later, it spent another $400. In addition to the two $400 payments to Torrenueva Hair Designs, the Edwards campaign listed a payment of $248 to a salon in Dubuque, Iowa. The payments recall a 1993 incident in which then-President Clinton delayed his departure from Los Angeles International Airport in order to receive a trim by Beverly Hills stylist Cristophe. Back then, Cristophe was said to charge about $200. At 53, Edwards, shows little sign of graying, and he is the focus of a mocking YouTube video of him straightening his hair and being made up by a stylist as the song "I Feel Pretty" plays in the background. Based on his campaign reports, Edwards flies on commercial airlines, stays in chain hotels and occasionally travels by minivan with just one aide. http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/nationworld/2003669253_haircut17.html?syndication=rss Photo: Edwards Haircut- Worth $400.00?

I think it is absolutely idiotic for anyone to spend 400 dollars on a haircut, most especially one who is having their haircut paid for by political contributions! Geeze. Talk about misplaced priorities. I continue to shake my head about the American public's misplaced priorities. We have professional athletes making millions of dollars, college coaches making millions of dollars yet we have children who are hungry and people without homes. Now we have politicians who speak about the healhcare crisis on one hand and yet stop off for a 400 dollar haircut. God, we are so messed up!

This is first time I have received a compliment and I don't deserve it. This also the first time I have not used a title of my own. The kudo go to the person who wrote the article but it was very nice of you. It came at the right time as I just got blasted and cursed at for a comment I made in my previous discussion LOL

I realize that things in the US may cost a little more than here in Canada, but we have some places up here that charge alot less than $400 for a haircut and another $400 for a trim a week later. But I guess since it is not coming out of his pocket, that makes it ok (?).I wonder what the minimum-wage voters think about the extravegance?

Maybe it is just one of those "priceless" things. Or like a L'oreal model, he might be worth it. I do wonder how people can be in touch with reality, yet pay those kinds of prices for such temporary goods. Would he be a good judge of how to spend our tax dollars, MY tax dollars. I sure do not spend luxury prices for haircuts, even when I am going to have my picture done. Maybe they are touching up his color as well.

Another politician spending a ridiculous amount of money on something superficial! Even this $800 hair cut would not go down well in Australia, politically speaking. Just goes to show where their priorities lie.

Shaving his head would be a lot cheaper and would probably get him more attention, like look how fixated the media was with Britney Spears -.-.

Well my hair looks much better than his and I just paid $15.00 for a cut. With that said, it appears Edwards is paying for more than a haircut. This must be his way of making sure he gets votes from all the customers who come to this salon. I do not think the contributions should pay for grooming. I am sure they can justify this by saying they have to be presentable in public in order to get votes. The political arena is a place with its own rules. The money could be utilized much better in other places.

I think that if anyone was to go looking, and I mean really looking with their eyes open, they would find a lot of useless expenditures that get paid for but we the people. I really think it is time to curb this kind of absurd expenditures, but it will never happen because too many people would stand to lose their butter money.

In my opinion, it is outrageous. He is a very wealthy man and he can spend his money any way he sees fit. But, he could also spend $20 on a haircut at Supercuts or Fantastic Sam's and donate $380 to charity. I wonder if he donates a lot of money to charity? If he does, then I will cut him some slack about the $400 haircuts. Of course, when he spends money on airlines and hotels, he pumps money into the economy and puts money in the pockets of airline and hotel employees. So you could say that I have mixed feelings about Mr. Edward's spending habits.

I pay about the equivalent of ten dollars for a short back and sides. This hasn't varied much in half a century. My own barber has just retired and his son has taken over along with two delightful young female assistants. One of them cuts my hair now. When one sees the contempt of money by politicians in these incidents one can only imagine the utter wastage of public money on other projects. We'll excuse women on what they spend. I've never trusted men with permed hair.
