How good is your sense of direction?

My partner had to go set up the polling place on Monday night for Tuesday's election. I drove her to the school the polling place was located. It was about 1 mile from our house. She said she would be there about 2 hours and to wait until she called me to come pick her up. About 1 1/2 hours later, she called. I asked her if she was ready to be picked up. She laughed and said yes, but she wasn't at the school. She was going to surprise me by walking home. Instead of walking home, she turned left instead of right, towards our house, and walked 1 1/2 miles in the wrong direction. She didn't even notice until she saw the street sign for the street where my cousin lives. Now we go down this street on a regular basis. She should know, by now, what the street looks like. She had no clue! I told her that she really had no idea where she lived. She laughed and said, "I guess I don't". She doesn't drive and never really pays any attention to where we are in our travels. She just knows that she leaves one place and arrives at her destination, not caring what route we took to get there. I am thinking I have to make her a little map of our neighborhood and it's surroundings that she can put in her purse. That way, when she takes the dog for a walk, she'll be able to make it back home from around the corner!! LOL How is your sense of direction? Do you know how to get someplace and get back home without a problem? Someone, please tell me I am not the only one with a clueless partner??

my sense of direction is fair in that I know whether to turn left or right but north and south, east and west sometimes get confused as i do not do a lot of walking and am usually driven by someone else to where I want to go. so I would say I am in the same boat as your partner.
