I've been smoke free for almost six weeks :-)

No Smoking - Quit smoking, live longer
April 18, 2007 9:43am CST
I can't believe it, almost six weeks and I've not had a cigarette. I've wanted a cigarette lots of times and got very close to weakening on occasions, but I've managed to hold on. I owe it to lots of my friends on here, for their support and the encouragement. My food tastes better, the air smells cleaner, my clothes don't smell of smoke anymore, and I am beginning to feel that I have turned the corner now. I just wanted to say a big thank you to everyone here for their kind words and support

I have not been supportive to you, cause i have not been here :P but had i known you quit i would have offered many words of encouragement! That is excellent that you have been able to go so long. for me its been nearly 2 years. The way i see it whenever i have the urge to smoke is WHY would i throw away all that effort i put into not smoking all this time just for one stinking gross cig :P So congrats and keep up the good work. I'm proud of you and anyone else that has the will power to quit :) its hard but well worth it :)

well having never even taken a puff of a cig in my life i cant say i know what you are going through. But alot of my friends have attempted to stop. Some suceeded and ofcourse other failed. Hope it all works out as it is a really bad habit. (and no i never care when i my friends smoke, its their choice to do what ever they desire). As for me i love the smell of smoke so thats reason i dont ever want to try it because i feel i would be addicted at first puff

It really is hard going at the moment, I felt close to weakening a few times but resisted.

YEAH!! Way to go hun!! I told you you could do it!! I'm so glad you managed to hang in there though. I know all to well how tough it is. Six weeks is a wonderful achievement!! I think you have indeed turned the corner. I still have cravings from time to time, but as time passes, those periods get fewer and further between. Well done!! :o)

Wow! Congratulations hun that is awesome! It's been almost 6 weeks already? I'm 3 days ahead of you and I stopped counting after a month. I didn't realize it had been that long. I have noticed a BIG difference too in how much better food tastes, how fresh air smells, and how you no longer have smelly stinky smokey smelling clothes. I am so happy to hear you are still smoke free as well! Good job! Keep up the great work hun!

Congratulations! That's wonderful! My father smoked a pack or more a day for over twenty years, through the first ten years of my life, or so, so I grew up hating the habit. I rejoiced when he finally quit. He added years to his life and made for a much healthier environment for myself and my mother, who were getting the worst of his second hand smoke. Keep up the good work!

Thank you for sharing the good news. It won't be long until you can sit next to a friend who is smoking and not even notice. Isn't it nice to be smelling that spring air?

Hey, I'm not that good yet hun :-) I have actually avoided going over to a friend's house so I don't get tortured :-)

Congratulations! Just remember, you're past the hardest parts now, so don't let your willpower lapse! There are so many benefits to quitting. Like you said, food tastes better, you don't reek of smoke all the time, the air in your home will be cleaner, and you'll be all around healthier!
