To all Pinoys out there. What is Malansa in English?

United States

Last night I prepared broiled catfish for our dinner. An hour after that I got so many rashes and bumps. Because I have allergy to seafood. I've been trying to explain to my husband what is Malansa in English and the only word I could think of is Fishy taste. But fish is fish and it has a fishy taste. Is there another definition for Malansa other than fishy? Any Advice? Thanks!!

Tilapia fish - Stench of (rotten fish)
stench of (rotten) fish might be a good suggestion for the english translation of malansa. Usually the freshwater fishes like tilapia, hito (catfish), lapu-lapu (grouper)and carp have this stench smell/odor.

This is a six year old discussion but I came across this as I searched in the mylot bar for English translation of "malansa". This is a tagalog word which many called fishy in English but I bet there is a more appropriate English equivalent for this word. I can't sue fishy because there are some food that are malansa although they are not fish. Hahahaha! So I searched online but got nothing but fishy or stench or rotten which to me are not really appropriate translation. So anyone who can answer this question?

Looks like the closest word is fishy but I saw that it can also be slimy too. So maybe we can describe it as a fishy and slimy feeling.

fish - fishy encounter
I don't know but other term for fishy is stench. It's really hard to look for the exact word but fishy term is enough to describe the word "malansa".
