Do you believe that some Holidays are money makers?

I was just talking to my boyfriend about christmas.(I know it's only April, but just started thinking about where we would go for christmas next year, my parents or his)Anyways we got on the subject of all holiday. My boyfriend always says they are just another way for companies to make more money off people.Holidays like Valentine's Day, Easter and Christmas. personally I like all holidays, I enjoy shopping for my daughter and boyfriend, I love giving gifts. I do think that they have become overated because the holidays are to spend time with loved ones and to celebrate the different meaning of each one.Either way I love them and I wish he would just try to enjoy them instead of saying the same thing every holiday. What are your opinions of the holidays? Do you think they are just a way for companies to make money?

I agree with your boyfriend. Unfortunately holidays are a way for companies to make more money. I know people who get broke during Christmas and just have nightmares at that time. It is supposed to be a nice holiday where you meet with family and enjoy time together without any competition who gave the best and more expensive gifts and people who are sad because they didn't get the gifts they deserve etc. I have a friend who doesn't allow any person to give her gifts during christmas and she doesn't give either. Unfortunately I can not do the same. I have a child who just loves holidays because of all the gifts he gets!
So to answer your question yes I do think that holidays are just a way for companies to make profit and it is our fault because we play the game by buying.

I tell my boyfriend that weather he likes it or not I have a child and we do it for her. But i do agree it does cost way too much. Many times at the holidays I have been so stressed out.

Yes very much, most of the big holidays call for money making like shopping for gifts and the like during christmas, valentines day, mothers day and many other holidays. Holidays like these are very commercialized that people are persuaded to buy and spend money.

Very true.Yes i just said at easter that these days it costs almost as much as christmas.

What kind of holidays are if you make money? if you make money it means that you work... (don't tell me about MLM where you earn money while you sleep!).

No I don't make money, I wish. I was talking about companies that make a ton of money during the holidays, some examples are Walmart, zellers, Sears, etc.. Thay make a lot of money.
