My Dad and I want to buy a new computer. I want to buy one that's fast, has lots of space, and just in general a great one altogether. He wants to buy a Windows Vista but I don't because I've heard a lot of nagging things about it. I've heard it's terrible. What do you suggest? What do you know about Windows Vista? What should I settle with?

The operating system doesn’t really affect how fast your computer is. It would depend actually on the computer’s processor and memory. I’ve actually heard a lot of complains about Vista but I guess it’s just because it’s fairly new but if Microsoft releases a lot of patches within this year or so, it would probably do fine. I haven’t really tried an Apple PC before but I’ve heard good reviews about it.

I have Windows Vista. I do not have problems with it. I have problems with my highspeed connection.

Windows Vista is not bad at all but make sure that you get a powerful PC or notebook. My notebook is running on Intel Centrino Core 2 Duo with 2Gb RAM. So far the performance is excellent and Vista is quite nice to use.

Well, I will have to say we went through this dilemma after Christmas at my home and what it came down to was it was impossible for us to find a desk top not using Vista so I can imagine it will be harder now. Not saying they are not out there, somewhere. It was like magic, one son got a new computer at Christmas with XP, and then after Jan. the other got almsot the same system with Vista. Like the Vista fairy came though the area and changed it all overnight or something.

I went off on my tangent and forgot my original point that neither user has seemed to be impressed or unimpressed either way. One is happy wiht XP and one with Vista. So in my home there has not been mention of much difference. They both use their systems for gaming.
