Thick or Thin

How do you like your sandwich meat to be sliced? do you like a single piece of meat that is good and thick? or maybe a couple pieces of thinly sliced meat folded onto your sandwich? Or, are you like me and prefer your meat "shaved". I really like a shaved meat sandwich - then you can pile it on and get the texture and sensation that you are eating a very well filled sandwich, but only actually eating a normal 1 oz serving. Do you prefer your bread toasted or soft? do you prefer a certain type of condiment? how about cheese on your sandwich? I like a hearty bread toasted. Generally I reach for stone ground mustard and a few slices of pickled jalepeno peppers. I like a variety of cheeses on a sandwich - lately it has been swiss cheese. What are a few of your favorite things?

Give me a shaved Roast Beef sandwich on a soft onion roll with muenster cheese, mayo, brown mustard, a leaf of lettuce, a slice of tomato and salt & pepper. Talk about yummy !! You have since redeemed yourself from that awful yucky post from before !!

onion rolls!!!! yeah! no need to toast that! hmmm, the yucky post would that be the one with roast Possum? I wonder if THAT is why my star rating dropped so drastically over night?

lol. I had nothing to do with your star rating. While I found your post to be down right despicable, I could never negatively rate you. I mean it's not your fault that you enjoy roadkill stew !!

I like a lot of very thinly sliced meats. I love my sandwich to be jammed full of everythng and then slathered with a good glob of mayonaisse. I also like my bread toasted, it makes the sandwich taste totally different. I shy away from stoneground mustard, though, because it is a little too hot for me and gets my sinuses burning if I over do it!

hey, mayo is good too! I think it is the crunch texture I like about toasted bread - either that or it is because my bread is a bit on the stale side, lol. Have you ever had wasabi horseradish spread? wowza! now THAT will clear out your sinuses in an instant.

I guess I must really be weird as I eat different things and in different ways depending on my mood. I am very unpredictable when it comes to eating. My husband can never order my food as he just never knows what kind of mood I am in. LOL

I love a thich sandwich, thick bread, shaved meat with lettuce and lots of cheese, and honey mustard toasted. I also love peanut butter and bacon sandwiches.. i know your going to think that is totally weird. but its actually very good and you should give it a try before you knock it :) my hubby tends to make sandwiches and uses salad dressing as condiments. i ahve tried it a few times, and some of them are really good. poppyseed ranch mixed with tuna on white toasted bread. That one was pretty darn good :)

Peanut butter and bacon sounds, interesting. I really do like peanut butter so I am willing to give this a try the next time I fry up some bacon. I have some lovely tomatoes and was thinking about picking up a slab of bacon for BLT's - so it may be sooner than later.

i would say somewhere in the middle.i don't like those paper thin ham slices.i'll toast the bread, and add cheese and mayo. if it's turkey though,i'll add tarragon and a bit of lemon juice to the mayo-it tastes really good.sometimes a little cranberry thrown in as well is nice.

oh wow, now that sounds really good - I have put lemon pepper on the mayo of a turkey bre@st sandwich but have never thought of adding lemon juice. I will have to remember that. My sister n law surprised me one year thanksgiving evening when she made herself a turkey sandwich and put cranberry sauce on it. It did not sound appealing to me, but, I had to test it out because she raved about it so much and was astonished that I had never heard of doing that. It was so fabulous, now we always make sure to save some cranberries aside for our leftover turkey sandwiches. Sometimes my husband makes these incredible turkey burgers that have chopped granny smith apples in the mix - he serves them on toasted english muffins with mayo and cranberries. yummm.

I like it thick but shaved or in short a lot of meat cut thinly then pile it in the sandwich..yummy!! makes me go hungry now!! I prefer my bread soft and freshly baked especially when its still hot. Condiments lots of mayonnaise, mustard, pickles. Cheese oh yes lots of cheese.. oh not to forget i love putting vegetables like onion thin slices and tomato and of course lettuce. any cheese would do for me as long as its cheese.. my favorite meat i prefer on my sandwich is ham, bacon, burger, salami and slices of hungarian sausage.. im craving for this.. havent eaten one in a long time because i mon a diet..

Janice, you must open a sandwich shoppe! hungarian sausage.... I am having memories of a beloved children's book by Kate Seredy titled the Good Master...there is one section where the little visiting girl from the city sneaks up onto the rafters and gorges herself on the sausage that was hung. Are you familiar with Hungarian Author, kate seredy? she was an incredible writer and illustrator. She incorporated tales and customs of her beloved homeland into her stories.

My favourite lunch meat is turkey. I just LOVE turkey. I get the same exact turkey sub every time I hit subway, and it is simply DIVINE. This is a great question for me, because guess what my favourite food is? Yup...that's right! SAMMICHES! (For those of you who don't speak "Tina-ese," sammiches translates to sandwiches.) I like thin-sliced deli-meat, for the same reason you do...I like to pile it on, get the good thick, meaty sandwich texture, without having to eat half the bird. Add a little mayo, tomato, lettuce, american cheese, sliced onion, and bacon (sometimes), slop it all on some soft wonder bread and throw a diet cherry pepsi at me...you won't see me for 3 1/2 minutes! LOL. That's my fave right there...now, if I'm at subway, flop it on wheat and throw some oregano, oil and vinegar on there...perfection! Wo0t Wo0t! I've tried putting dressing on a sammich, but it hasn't turned out well. There are a few things that have to happen, though...if I don't have tomato or lettuce, I take off the cheese and switch to mustard, ham & cheese sammiches HAVE to have mayo and plain chips, no negotiating there, and grilled cheese sammiches HAVE to be made with dark cheese, not light. I know...OCD. What can I say? I love sammiches. And if you're gonna do it, you best do it right. :)

Hey! I do talk tina-eese! for a turkey "sammich" that is deli style cut and not leftover turkey dinner... I like a hearty rye bread, thin layer of mayo, black pepper, tomato slice, white or red onion slice, any one of the following cheeses (swiss being prefered) swiss, american, provolone, muenster, cheddar (least prefered) and a crisp leaf of romaine... I also do not care for this to be toasted.

Wow, too many questions here, making me hungry as I haven't had breakfast yet. I like a lot of different sandwiches and each one is different. I like fried egg sandwich with salad dressing, bologna with katcup, ham with mustard. I like egg salad with lettuce but sometimes on toasted and sometimes not. I never like tuna on toasted but like with or without lettuce...I've got to go find something to eat.

ooooh tuna I like to have vinegar chips on my tuna sandwich for the crunch, and a nice crisp leaf of romaine.

I like a sandwich with the meat sliced very thin and nothing more than a little mustard and I don't want it toasted. I'm just a plain Jane kind of person, nothing fancy.

Hi friend! I would have to say shaved pastrami with swiss cheese and saurkraut, loaded on a toasted rye bread it my absolute favorite. I always ask the deli to shave my meat...it just seems to taste better for some reason! Makes me think I am getting more to eat too..good for the waist line!

That is my thinking too with the shaved meat! What kind of dressing do you put on your sandwich? I used Russian dressing on my reuben this last time and it just seemed lacking for some reason. I guess my taste buds have changed over the years.

Each meat and each sandwich is different. For hams and beef, I like a nice thin slice, and even shaved. For ham I like different mustards and usually swiss cheese. For beef I like horse radish and ketchup. For bolognas, I like thicker slices, and with american cheese, and either miracle whip or most types of mustard. Not sure how much this goes outside of the Amish country in Lancaster and York counties of Pennsylvania, but I enjoy the sweet Lebonan bologna with mustard, or just by the slice out of the pack.

I don't take measly things such as deciding on what sandwiches I eat much thought of. Instead of thinking those things, I preferred to use my thoughts on productive things.

Personally I like to have thinly sliced meats. I like a variety of meats on my sandwich, so I like thin sliced meats so I can stack a few different types on there without making the sandwich huge! I like bread that is soft, unless it is a very loose sandwich. And oh, how I love cheese! Mostly colby, with mayonnaise, some mustard, tomatoes, lettuce and plenty of onions! Yum! I think it is time to make a sandwich!

I love having thin sliced ham or turkey on my sandwiches, the thin slices just taste better to me. The thick slices seem to retain alot of water and then don't taste quite as good as the thin ones do. I love to put lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, and onions. After you put all that on there, just sprinkle some salt and pepper on the sandwich and its perfect!!

I like my meat sliced thin. I also like pepper jack cheese and italian dressing on it. I like my bread toasted and if it is ham, I like to heat it enough to kind of melt the cheese. Clear italian dressing and banana peppers are my favorite on ham, beef or turkey sandwiches.
