Tips for looking "fresh" in the heat.

I must admit, when the heat comes (and it's 80 degrees where I am today), I tend to look much more like a wilting flower than a fresh one. I get sweaty, and over heated, my make-up runs...you know, the works. I guess I'm just more of a cold weather person. :-) I would love to get some tips on how to keep looking fresh despite the heat, and most ecpecially the humidity? What products have worked best for you? What secret tips do you have for ways to apply make-up in the heat? How do you stay looking calm, cool, and collected after walking for 15 minutes in the heat?

I don´t wear make up but when it is really hot and I have to go outdoors, I put on some clothes that are a little moist or even rather wet. Then you don´t need to sweat so much to keep cool and it helps you to save the energy. It could be a good idea to take a small spray bottle with water with you and spray yourself when you have dried up to keep the cool feeling. This really helps, I have tested it many times.

It seems the spray bottle is a popular and good idea. I think I will have to be sure to do that...as I do tend to be pretty active and overheat easily.

Ok, I'm no make up guru, but I really like a refreshing spray of toner (such as LUSH's Eau Roma)as a pick me up. Also, if you find yourself oiler than during the winter, I recommend polishing your make up off with a loose powder. There are many different types on the market, I think that even Burt's Bees has a transluscent one. The key is to apply it lightly with a big fluffy brush.

Thanks so much! I actully don't wear much make-up, but I do get shiny. I find Lush's Fresh Farmacy helps me to get less shiny over the course of the day, but still...the toner spritz is a great idea.

In the summer, it is pretty much impossible for me to keep my skin from getting shiny, so my trick is to go for the dewy look instead. This way you just need to keep it under control instead of wasting all your time trying to get your skin a matte finish. Here are a few of my tips: 1) Sea Salt Spray your hair. I use the spray to make my hair look chunky and summery. It gives you a little hold without looking like you tried too hard, and it also helps with those wispies you can get from heat and humidity. 2) Blotting tissues and face spray. I like to keep those blotting tissues handy in the summer. Especially those with tea tree oil in them. The trick is to go light with them because too much blotting can end up blocking your pores and making things worse. Also, a nice light face spray can help cool you off, tone your skin, and make you look cool and dewy. Also, remembering to moisturize can also help with the oilyness. 3) Finish applying at work. For the products that I am most worried about melting or looking gross, I will wait until my destination to put it on. For instance, my eyeshadow can crease really easily int eh summer. So when I get to work, I sneak away and apply it in the ladies room before my shift starts. It can also help to put some powder or something on your eye lids first to help the eyeshadow stick.

Living where we do, in Texas, you learn real fast what works and what doesn't. When the heat begins to show up I usually wear my hair up. I don't mess much with trying to fix it. The only make up I wear in summer is powder blush, lip gloss and mascara. I don't wear anything extra. I wear cotton. Even though I have to iron cotton, it's better to wear something cooler that breathes. And I don't use spray starch in the hotter months. Spray starch tends to close the thread which doesn't allow the material to breath. I opt for a spray bottle of water to help me iron. I don't wear hose in the summer. Skorts are always good. I wear open toes shoes or sandals and sleeveless tops. The less the better in our Texas weather.

I always carry with me a small can of Evian mineral water spray for days that will be spent in the scorching hot sun. It refreshes you and your face instantly. You can also use it on your hair. Aside from that, I also carry with me a small bottle of bottled water. Ozarka now has those little bottles that fit perfectly in our "little" purses.

well, you could always try to buy evain products. although they are a bit expensive, they are effective. :) just remember to wip all the sweat from your face first before you spray evian on your face. :)
