I treat my cats like I treat my daughter. If one of my cats hurts me, I scold it just like I would scold my daughter. I don't think retaliating hurting is the anwer to anything. A lot of times the cat doens't really know that they hurt you. It is important to teach them and use the word No, so they can learn. My cats all know the word No and respond to it immediately. Plus for things like biting or scratching, they have learned how far they can take it without really hurting me, whcih is important especially when palying with them.

I am sure that she knows you feel sorry for hitting her. If you feel you need to teach her a lesson if she does it again, then you say no in a stern but calm voice. You can also give a light tap on her nose while saying no. I always like to talk to my cats just like I would a person. If one of my cats scratches me, I tap them lightly on the nose and say no scratching. After a few times they will start to understand and they will learn how far is okay and how far is too far. I would suggest you apologize to your cat for hitting her without letting her know why and then let it go. It will do no good if you carry guilt around. Just remember to scold next time with words and only light tapping. Just make sure your cat knows how much you love her.

i feel it is necessary to hit it, though not too hard just so that you make it realsie that she has done something wrong. Like children, when they do something wrong we may need to hit them so they remember the pain everytime they ever think of doing it again, they will not do it again. it is necessary to treatyour cat exactly like how u would treat ur child.

I have 2 cats and they dont claw or bite me unless I am playing with them, and even then it is my fault in part because I am playing with them. If they claw me by accident because they loose there grip I try to help them from clawing me any more by catching them. They dont mean it and I wont hit them for it.

Cat - A good cat.
The claws of cats are very sharp but usually they do not claw people unless by accident especially when we play with them. They know how not to apply their claws to hurt and they apply them only against their enemies such as when they catch mice. If I'm scratched, of course, I couldn't hold my shout coz it's very painful but I do not hit the cat.

Of course you shouldn't hit it. The cat is far smaller than you. She is not biting or scratcing you out of cruelty - it is just the way they play. They do not mean to hurt you. Hitting a small animal is as bad as hitting a small child in my opinion. Tell it off firmly but gently and scold it, but never hit it. It is wrong, wrong, WRONG in my opinion.

No, never they dont mean to hurt you. You know that you done a wrong thing and it obviously upset you and you have realised its not the right thing to do. Dont be too upset, as long as it dosnt happen again, the cat has forgotten all about it, they give unconditional love.

no way should you hurt it! that is animal cruelty. if you can't control yourself then you should find another home for the cat.

though they are your pets, they are still animals that don't mean to hurt you too. It does happens to me all the time, coz his claws are very sharp but i dont bit him.
