Did anyone see the Oprah show about 2 weeks ago? It was talking about the exact type of scams that were being used on careerbuilder and monster. The scam artist seeks innocent jobseekers to try and raid your bank account. Please beware of these types of scams. They will also try to get you with the "payday loan" scam. They get your bank account information promising to deposit $1500 overnight. There is the "check cashing" scam where they send you checks to cash at your bank. They tell you to wait for the funds to clear. Actually, you should wait for the funds to be "collected" which usually takes 2 weeks by the bank. Unfortunately, the funds will never be collected because it's all just a scam. These companies are mainly based in the UK so please beware of them.

It is unfortunate how many scams are out there on the internet. People have to be careful on anything they apply for or type their information in on. Research is the best thing to do before you do anything!

Yeah, crooks sure have it easy these days...why take the risk of getting caught robbing a bank or store when you can just sit at home or in an internet café and make money off of innocent people who are desperate to earn a little money. These bank scams have been all over the 'net the last few years and people are still falling for them. There was a special on TV about them and how they prey on women who are lonely. They use bogus checks and money orders. There was one place in Niagara that hired men to work on these scams. There was about 50 men sitting all day long in front of a computer running this scam on women in America and Europe, in a room so small their knees were touching. it's a shame that the internet is so saturated with these kind of people. And what is being done about it? Where's the internet police when you need them? Why can't places like this be shut down? Guess we'll never know!

It definitely makes things tougher when they post on supposed reputable job sites. I would never let someone give me money to deposit money for them. Like you said, for the funds to actually be collected, it usually takes two weeks. Just because a bank takes a cheque doesn't mean the bank won't come after you if it turns out bad. Same could go for paypal. If someone gives you money through paypal and they pay you with a stolen credit card, it isn't free money. You will be required to give it back so if you spend it, you will be out that money. I could use some extra money for sure, but I won't be so desperate that I put myself in a possible bad spot.
