Have you noticed a little slump and lack of umph in the postings at the moment?

Perhaps it's me but the zesty meaty interesting posts have taken a nosedive. Maybe the warm weather has pulled people from the northern hemisphere into the great outdoors and away from the computer. Okay so what of the southerners, that would be me. There's a lack of creativity in the airways regardless. Do you feel the same thing? What to do? Where to get the inspiration from to post something, anything descent.

Yeah i guess your right. I haven't been here for long and at first i thought it was because everyone wants to make good money fast. But when i checked out the older messages it seems they have better content.

10 points for checking out the older posts and knowing the difference. Yes there have been some amazingly intelligent posts and that's why it's noticed when the standard drops. Maybe you will be out next shining light in that department. Welcome to mylot, I hope you have fun here.

I think once in a while the Mylot pot runs dry and then someone gets creative out of boredom, lol.I feel imagination is the best inspiration.Life will always throw up what we already know ,but if we turn to imagination ,we might get more attention for the uniqueness.Maybe you will get creative out of boredom and give us something inspirational ?:-D Counting on it

last week there was a very good rush of decent interesting discussions that actually got me thinking, but you are right, in the last few days there has been very little of interest hence why i haven't answered many discussions, and those i ahve have been very simple ones like who will win the football match this evening. Hopefully there will be another burst, i've been trying to think of an interesting discussion but there isn't a lot going on at the moment that the rest of the world would be interested in

It is a bit flat and it's interesting that creativity comes in waves. If one catches on then others follow. If it's flat, all feel it.

Actually I would have to agree with you on this one Tetchie! I thought it was just me but I am finding it more difficult than before to find topics that inspire me. Not just my own to post but even other topics that have been posted by other members. I will say though that I have also been very busy with work as well so haven't had the opportunity to be as well read as I would like to be so maybe this has something to do with my own inputs? On the other end of the scale though, there does seem to be less and less ridiculous posts than before..... Such as "what is your favourite colour" etc etc Maybe it's a seasonal thing! lol

Work is getting so busy its not funny! I have to travel extensively in the next few weeks so God knows how much I will be able to get online during this time! Things may improve for the better though in my absence! ;) I can relate to the occasional lack of inspiration. Some of the people that I really enjoyed interacting with just don't seem to participate as much anymore. I will however "soldier on" as this site still helps me keep my sanity in relation to my daily stresses! People will come and go but the true "patriots" will prevail hopefully and we will all benefit in the long run because of it! As for "who cares" responses to your own questions..... lol; I am not quite sure how to deal with that one! Let's just hope this is a temporary phase Tetchie!

Hi James, How's work going? I agree at least the color problem has ended! And I have to turn the lack of inspiration in on myself cause I too am having difficulty finding a decent intelligent question. If I answer "who cares" to my own questions then there is definitely a lack of inspiration!

I think this tends to go in phases these days, you can always tell when it is school holidays on here by the rise in silly one-line discussions and the fall in quality topics. I don't usually post many discussions, maybe one or two in a week, but I do try to keep them quality and not the pointless one we seem to find these days

How can we not notice tetchie, and believe me it is not your imagination. For the last month or so, i am feeling that way. I spend a lot of time here trying to find some quality posts that are interesting, sometimes it gets to a degree that i can spend my two daily hour on the computer looking for a good post. There are also a lot of good friends here, that spend less and less time here, i do not know if you noticed. I do try to open from a time to time an interesting post, but it seems like it does not interest alote of new users that already got used to the posts style: what is the color of the shirt you are wearing now. Lol. so i decided that i will only open a post when i will have a good idea, and that i would not care about the quantity of responses just the quality. well this is the reason that i am here. Lol.

Liran, there is obviously a lull in the planetary inspiration wave. I have to say I myself am having trouble being creative and finding good questions. And the current threads are pretty mundane, well for me anyway. I too am into the quality game. There is a drought here in Australia, perhaps it's reaching thought forms too, LOL.

After a long Winter without ANY hint of good weather until just last week... I'd say that people here in the Northeast are simply "burnt"! But somehow, with the coming of Spring, finally, I feel like "kicking up my heels" and celebrating by putting up some fun and amusing stuff... I also present a lot of resources and writing advice... such as going on very strict "News Fasts" and reclaiming your Life and it's creativity... I also guess that it's a matter of who you choose to respond to... I've seen people post the most interesting stuff and not even respond to my discussions (?) in reply... Also if you've noticed, there are subjects on just about everything already here, and that fact alone, can intimidate the average would-be poster into inactivity... Thanks for a good discussion! :) Expert Village for you: http://www.expertvillage.com

It's getting towards the end of the month, so maybe alot of people have made enough to get payout and are taking a break? That's part of what I've been doing. Taking a break. Plus I've been pretty busy with other things at home, etc. and haven't had much time for MyLot the last few days.

I have a small theory for you. The other posters all seem to think it is a global depression. But one of the reasons I am here less is that it takes so long to read and post. I thought it was only my slow old computer, but others have complained that the server is very slow. I guess what takes me an hour to do, takes them five minutes and that is a looong time in this virtual world. Many people that I enjoyed reading and hearing from are not very active, and I prefer to think it's because they have some kind of a life outside of Mylot. But it is discouraging to post and not get read, and to respond and not get a reply. It IS supposed to be a discussion. That lowers the tone AND the energy level.

Another theory. Mylot has started sending email to tell us when we have a reply to a response, as well as a response to a discussion. Of course they do that to get people to visit more, but if I were going to log on anyway, and then see that I have no conversations going on, why not skip it.

You may be onto something there. People no longer tolerate slow uploads and if you have dialup it is totally a no go zone. I have broadband and sometimes the slowness is annoying. And there is the spring weather, this may have something to do with it also.

I'm in the same boat. Unable to respond to about 75% of my friends posts I check out "new discussions" and topics from "my interests" with the same result. Most American posts simply don't apply to me and I'm seeing the same old things being asked time after time or posts that only require a one word answer or a few words at most. I'm having trouble myself coming up with things that are of general interest to everyone. Also I've noticed many posts being critical of various aspects of the site which on top of my post count going down has me in the doldrums. I had a busy day the other day but managed seven responses, next day my post count was the same. Now that I've said this I've no doubt this will be deleted as well.

The animals were waking at 5am following the end of daylight saving...in the dark! The cooler weather is great but we are still getting some real heat from midmorning till late in the day. The winds are howling in the night but by day they are cool breezes. It's delightful. I saw a young girl wearing ugh boots and shorts yesterday...a sign that winter is nearly on the way...lol.

Get it off your chest darling, take a breath, imagine a pyramid over your head, close your eyes, center yourself, have a cuppa and perk up. Hopefully it won't be long and the inspiration forces will kick in and brighten up this place. If this post gets deleted we're doomed. Apart from the lack of water, are you enjoying the weather! Can't believe I've resorted to talking about the weather, but I love autumn in my neck of the woods. I wish it was like this all year round.

Wow I was just thinking the same thing today. Maybe it is just that time of year. I know for us in the midwest it could be because it has rained for two days solid and some might feel gloomy. I really don't know what it is but I was thinking the same thing when I read your post. Hopefully we will all get a pick me up soon!

Cabin fever has hit here and my mind has turned into mush.I rarely start a new discussion as I have had no inspiration .We are still anticipating the warmth of the sun but temperatures still struggle to break 60 F (I think it has slipped by once or twice). But once new experiences of sun and fun return to our lives, the freshness of the season will result in a burst of creativity waiting at the computer door.

I have noticed this slump too. I have also noticed an increase in garbage posts. Sadly I have also noticed that some of my friends have been away from here for 2 months or more. I think that is part of what the problem is. I have days where I have tons of topics go thru my mind. I have others that nothing come to mind. I can be really hard.

this is a really clever discussion because it is directed and most relevant to the users online and not certain interests. So it can gain action all the time not just when certain users with certain interests are on. I'm on to you tetchie

Hey you, I hadn't noticed that until you pointed it out. My question now transcends topics! Unconscious cleverness LOL. I am really enjoying your question on thought, you know the one. I am at work at present and will answer the latest one tonight to give it justice.
