Are they kidding!? $99 for a pair of jeans?

Ok, call me cheap but I looked up and saw an ebay auction for a pair of jeans for $99!!!! They were "authentic true religion" brand, like that made it all ok to start bidding at $99! I looked and on the Marshalls website they are charging $345 Canadian for a pair! HOLY MACKARAL! Am I the only one that is quite satisfied with my Levis or average brand jeans or have I totally become fashion faux pas?! Who's buying these "high-end" denim lines besides Paris Hilton and other spoiled brats that don't earn their money?

I was astounded the other day. My daughter and I went out for her annual shopping spree birthday gift ...we began looking at jeans...it was shocking. We were in Nordstrom's so I expected them to be expensive...but we both couldn't fathom the prices. The first pair I pulled out were very plain...no frills, design, rips, shreds, fades...very plain...189.00....what???? I mean these looked like the jeans no one would have purchased at K-Mart for 5.99..On I went through the store now on a search for some reasonably priced jeans (even if we knew we weren't going to buy them, we were just sure they were there)...Wrong!!! Cheapest pair $167.00..most expensive ( and ugliest) $310.00....we were then totally entertained by the things people will pay for!!! For me to buy any of those jeans at any of those prices here's what would have to happen. 1. They would make my rear look like Jlo's 2. They would remove the cellulite from my thighs 3. They would make my stomach perfectly flat and give me the "I've worked out for 20 years on the Abdominzer and it worked" look 4. They would have to make my legs 6 inches longer 5. And finally ....they would have to take 15 years off my face's age... Now, if all that is included in the price of those jeans...I'd buy the $310.00 ones and smile all the way home...but if not...well, then I'd be forced to do what I did...head for Macy's and buy the pair that fit really good ( even with the cellulite and rear and shorter legs and aged face)..and pay the 38.00 sale price and smile all the way home!!!

LOL.. I have to agree, if I could find a pair that did all that I'd pay $300 + easily! LOL I'm sure you would be a millionaire too if you could create them to do all that! If you ever do, let me know.. I'll help you market them! LOL

Since I work from home I wear things like jeans and warm up outfits for work and am always looking for a great pair of jeans, I heard about this J & Company jeans once (I think it was an Oprah show) and how great they are supposed to fit and make your booty look good so I have been watching for them on eBay and I can't find them for under $169 a pair .. so for the time being I wear my Gap Flare Jeans that I brought on eBay for $2.00.

I would never pay over $40 for a pair of jeans and even then that is pushing it. It's not like the $325 jeans are any better quality than a $30 dollar pair.

Sure makes you wonder what they think is so exceptional about them doesn't it? LOL

I bought my last pair for 99 EEK, it's about $8,6 LOL! Not 'authentic true religion' of course but they are fitting well and are looking absolutely OK. It was a sale, of course, I just was on the right place in a right time. I'm not a brand-type at all, what I'm always looking is how the thing is looking, and how I'm looking in it. What I also learned to check always is the reverse side. We have a Zara shop there, and I'm dropping in time to time, just to see what they are offering but I'll hardly ever buy something from them, especially because of reverse sides. The quality is awful, sometimes the sews are wriggling like drunk snakes. The things tey are selling aren't very expensive but with such quality the price should be at least 50% smaller.

You gotta wonder who gets up close enough to your butt to really check out the label anyways! LOL

That is ridiculous!! I would never pay that much for a pair of jeans and I don't care what brand that they were. I can't imagine that anyone would give that much for a pair of jeans. I believe that spoiled brats are the only ones with those kinds of jeans.

I dont think I spent $99.00 on clothes all last year for myself. 2 pairs of athletic pants $30.00 package of socks $6.00 1 bra $15.00 1 pkg mens wife beater t-shirts $7.00 1 sweater $20.00 thats 78.00 bucks. I think I picked up a few things for myself at salvation army to. I cant imagine paying that much for 1 pair of jeans. I can buy my daughter all of her back to school clothes with that.

Wow, I'm so glad I'm not just cheap and unrealistic! LOL I honestly was afraid a ton of people would come on and say "are you kidding? I buy those all the time" like I was some fashion moron (of which I already know I am LOL)

There is absolutely no way that I would pay $99 for a pair of jeans, no matter what type or what brand. I think that is ridiculous how much they are charging. I guess they are aiming these jeans at wealthier people since many people could not afford or be willing to pay that much for jeans. I am happy with my normal pair of jeans and less expensive ones.

my sister has a pair of jeans that cost €120, roughly $160...luckily she's not in the habit of spending the much normally, she just REALLY liked the jeans.

Well, some jeans can be expensive that is why you can go on eBay and find some really good prices even for the expensive brands. I don't think I would pay more than 45 USD for jeans. It is just that jeans can be bought for a nice price on eBay or other places. The people that buy the jeans either love fashion a lot, have parents that buy them, are in school and work and have the extra money, or there are just various reason why. Have a nice day. Pablo

I won't even spend $25 for a t-shirt. Yet that's the going rate in a lot of stores for one. And for a Plus Size? Forget it! I swear, they charge by the inch!! I can't even stand paying the $35 to $40 for the jeans I buy from Penney's, and they are just the store brand! I shop at Walmart & Meijer for tops but I can't find pants or jeans I like without going to a catalog.

wow, this is ridiculously expensive for me, Hell expensive... 99 dollar is equal to RM 340 in my country. You know what, the most expensive jean that i ever bought was only about RM40++. It is way too expensive. Imagine what i can buy with that kind of money.

Well, I know alot of people who do that and I think its rediculous. I justthink that I can get 3-4 pairs of jeans for that kin of money at another store..so its not worth it.

OK don't laugh but I get my jeans at a thrift store. I will not buy jeans for $99, that is just insane. I think the most I will pay for jeans is $25 and that doesn't happen often. I think the spoiled brats like Paris Hilton doesn't know the meaning of a buck and will plop down hundreds of dollars for denim. That is insane.

well....i do not call you cheap..... but i willl definitely call those pair of jeans manufacturers ..... expensive.... and paying $99 dollars....well actually thats 100.... you know... when you are spending 99....you might even spend the other 1 on a burger.......but i will not say that i will never buy them... infact....whenever i see somethings in stores....or in malls.....that are overpriced....and that make me think ....can i afford it..... it creates a force in me.... why cant i afford it.... if i do not have the money for this kinda thing.... then i should earn.... if my job does not pay me enough ...that i can buy this....then maybe i will have a job change... and if not a job change....then i will find other ways so as to lift myself to the level....that i do not have to think before i buy stuff..... that i do not have to see the price label before i can buy stuff.... and that other than the big stuff like a mansion or a vacation ..... or something like that....something that big.........i could buy anything i want...... but these things will be when i start to earn.... right now i am 19..... and have a lot of studying to do.... i do not want companies to choose me.....i want to be the one...whos choosing companies....thaats why i am studying...and i plan to study a lot.......as far as that pair of jeans is concerened.... i dont think i will buy it then....but definitely...i will work harder on mylot....and buy it later....hehehe

Personally, I only have one pair of jeans and I got them at a second hand store...lol. It kills me to even think that I'd have to spend $20 min. for a pair of regular jeans let alone $99. Must be nice. But to tell you the truth, even if I had a knock-out body and could afford it, I wouldn't buy any clothing for more than it's really worth. I need my money for more important things like food, and my son.

Its absolutely pathetic, the prices of some stuff and silly people go and pay for them. Only the other day I saw a skirt for $720.00 Australian Dollars, I mean how much material goes into a skirt. It must have been gold plated....lol.

What does authentic true religion brand mean. Do they go to church? I'm so behind the market in jeans, haven't bought a pair for a long long time. But in this country the price starts around $50 anyway and that's a basic, not look so good pair. So $80 to $90 is normal. Clothes and food are priced much differently in your country.

That is just crazy. I would not spend that kind of money for jeans. I am not dressing to impress. That money could go for more important things.
