Have you seen the new Panasonic clothes washer/dryer in one?

Panasonic NA-VR1000 - clothes washer and dryer in one.

I'm thrilled to see someone finally come up with ONE UNIT that does both wash and dry your clothes without needing to transfer the load from one machine to another!!!!!Panasonic's NA-VR1000 is just that machine. Now I can't wait to see it become mainstream in the States and come down to a reasonable price so we common folk can afford it!

What an interesting concept! I had not heard about these machines. Like a previous poster, my concern would be the repair issue. It would be a wonderful space saver though wouldn't it?! That to me, is the biggest plus for this combo idea!

For me it was the idea of not having to transfer the wet and heavy load!

When I was a kid my Mom had a two in one unit. She loved it,even though it was avocado green. If I remember right it wore out fast and they kind of lost popularity. With all the new technology I'm sure they have corrected those problems. What a great space saving idea as well time saving.

I did look this up and saw how the time for drying is supposed to be less then the normal dryer. I'm curious though on the cost. I couldn't find that any place. Depending on the cost since it is supposed to be so much more energy efficient it might be worth it.

That was definitely my thought on it too!

You couldn't find a cost because it seems to be only offered in Japan at this point with no comments on it coming out of that market. I'm not sure how much it would be but I'm telling you I think it's an awesome idea!

I think it is too and if it ever comes here I'll look into it. I have to admit having to only load and unload one thing would be nice. A lot easier on the back too that's for sure.

Wow, I also did not know that this washer/dryer all in one existed. Sometimes I think technology will never cease to amaze me. I would think that there are advantages and disadvantages to having both machines in one. I bet that the price will be high if they ever do hit the market in the US. But, I think it is good for a change in the way machines always seem to stay the same.

I have not seen this new machine but am very interested. You are right that it is about time they came up with one machine that can do both. I wonder how long it will take to come to the states and how much it will be sold for. Is there a picture of it posted somewhere? I am sure other companies will probably start making something similar as well. It certainly would be nice to have just one machine doing the work.

Sorry about that as I did not see the picture that you posted. It looks really neat and not too big.

Yeah. I have a feeling we may never see it come here to the States for some reason. It kills me because who wouldn't want it all done in one machine, with no lifting loads in and out?

I truly doubt I will ever be able to own one of these. It took me nearly 25 years to own a front loading washing machine and bought it brand new. Most of the appliances I have are second hand. But, this idea of washer and dryer in one is great. Think of the space you'd save with it.

I love the idea that you don't have to load and unload it numerous times to switch machines! I don't think they have plans of releasing it in the U.S. though.

The all-in-one washer dryers have actually been around for awhile, they were more populare in Europe, where space in houses if very limited. The drawback of the older models was that they had a small capacity and took forever to dry a load of laundry; like 3-4 times longer than regular dryer. Hopefully, these new ones are more effective. I would love to only have one unit to make room for. Plus, if I forgot a load of laundry in it, it would already be dry when I remembered it later!

These new units are a lot different I guess. What ticks me off is they were designed for Japan's market only and it doesn't look like they're even thinking of bringing them to the U.S.! These ones dry 2 shirts in literally minutes. I'm not sure what they said an average "load" will dry in but it's very quick.

I had not heard of this before your discussion. I think that in some ways it would be a great idea. I think that there would be some drawbacks though. I know that sometimes the stains in my clothes don't always come out the first time they get washed and need to be rewashed.

I haven't seen it yet, but wow! I would love to have it! It's really taxing sometimes to transfer heavy loads of laundry to the drier and this new product is so cool! Thanks for the information!

Wow that is pretty convenient and cool. I wonder how much they will cost when they start selling them here. Probably more than what we can pay anyway but we do a lot of laundry and that would be really handy for us. Maybe I can ask for that as a Christmas present this year. LOL!!!

I would love to have one of those washer dryers. That looks like a good one. How expensive is it? I would be a bit worried about electricity bills with washer dryers though. I expect they would be a lot more. Having said that it is so much more convenient if you can set it on a programmer to wash and dry the clothes. That would be wonderful. I might have to wait until I have saved up more money though! lol.

It sounds great. So far it is only for the Asian market as Panasonic is the trade name for an Asian company and no where does it even hint at the price. So I will just have to make do with my Kenmore washer and dryer. BTW I have had my Kenmores for 29 years, never need to be repaired and still going strong...touch wood!

I would love to have one like that, but I wonder what it cost.Having just one unit could add some space to my area.plus you can just leave your clothes in the machine and dry them. I am all for it.

I had never heard of a machine like that. I did know that they have the portable machines with washer on bottom and dryer on top; there was one in our villa at the Hilton in Vegas when we were on Spring Break. The only thing I didn't like about that machine was that it was so small you could only wash a few items at a time. I wouldn't mind having an all-in-one if it worked well and was easy to take care of and repair.

At least it would be a space saver, I still don't see how it would work though.
