I just wrote a long response to a discussion of a friend.

I just wrote a long response to a discussion of a friend. I clicked the start discussion button and this message came back and they deleted my post: unable to post content. please modify your text to only include letters, numbers, and standard punctuation. What on earth does this mean? What else could I have put in the post but letters, numbers, and standard punctuation. There were no accent marks. What else is there? I did not use bad words. It was about God and helping others.

Ouch! that's tough. As a reasonably new person here, things like this make me nervous. I do hope that it was their auto-checking program that made the error and not a human. Anyway, don't give up, keep on keeping it real.

I know its frustrating especially after having your other post being deleted. But I know I have gotten those messages before. I think at that time it was just a glitch. Maybe thats what happened with yours. I noticed the site was running a little slow and thats usually when it happens to me. So I try to remember to copy my reply after I type it just in case it doesn't go through.

Hi yes this has happened to me before and what you have to do is to make sure that you have not put any words in it that violate mylot terms as they have certain words that they will not let go through, sometimes mylot discussions do this due to their could be an error on the part of mylot don't worry about it but it does annoy us when we write a long response and it does this I would agree with you completely.

I don't blame you being confused as sometimes it does this because like I was explaining how to cook something the other day and the word that I used is very common way of making holes in the top of a pie but I could not use what we normally use so it would not go through that is so silly sometimes as I do not use swear words on here for explaining other ways. Have a great day xx

I had that happen once to me. Earlier today as matter of fact. I figured I must have hit one of special characters on my keyboard or some system glich. The post was not very long and on topic for the discussion so I don't think content has anything to do with it. It is some auto responder that gets it's "e-panties" in a knot over something. Now if something was posted and then got deleted I'd say a human had to be involved.

yesme, I have another solution to not losing a long posting. I open notepad from accessories and paste what I have written there. This way I am guaranteed that what I have writeen has not been lost. It has come in handy a couple of time I can assure you. Just a thought!

I dunno what went wrong. Maybe some system bug. Are you sure you didn't use anything else? Because this is really strange! Really! I feel sorry for you, you should mail MyLot staff by using the "Contact" button on the bottom of the page. I'm sure they'll give you further information about your case.

When they do respond they usually say they don't know what it is but it must be my fault.

I've never seen anything like that before. The only time I've seen a similar message was if I used a word that MyLot Censors didn't agree with, like the L word to describe vodka, rum and other kinds of "you know what." I once tried to use the proper word for a part of the male anatomy, but they wouldn't except that, yet the proper name for the female counterpart, was perfectly acceptable. Hmmm....

Make a habit of copying all the really long things you write, coz things like this happens. Maybe u used a word that is not allowed, I know i got this messsage as well once and i have used the word a**, after previewing I got the answer to where the problem was.

I don't think I used a bad word in the message I wrote. It was about God.

There is something fishy going on here, I'm sure it is a glitch. I responded to a discussion this morning straight from my mail box, and when I responded, it just went blank. I then discovered that the poor friend's discussion got deleted, why heaven knows, because it was a beautiful innocent piece about what children answered in their school exam papers. And then there is the pm problem, half the time they don't reach the other person, although I must say yesterday and today it is going a bit better. All the pm's I sent out I received replies. Maybe we must send MyLot a pm. about it.

I did write them. They did not answer. Maybe it is just getting too expensive for Mylot to support our writing habit. You know, to give us money we use for Friday night ice cream. :)

Yes the same thing happened with me today morning. When I logged on to mylot I had 501 posts. Then I commented on a reply, and when I again saw the number of posts, it was 500. I felt really bad. I had spent so much time last night on trying to deliver quality posts, and I really got depressed. I just make sure that I do not write anything controversial, or against the mylot rules. Last night also I didn't post anything bad. I don't know which post got deleted, and why. I think if the mylot authorities deletes somebody's posts, then they can choose to inform it. That makes the matter easier to understand.

I agree. We deserve an explanation. We deserve respect. They should not take us for granted because they have so many members.

I know this is an old discussion but the problem is not new. Quite a few of us have got this from time to time. This is a glitch. Your reply can be all fine but it will get this error. Just wait a while and re-post. It should work then. You may wish to check first though - half the time, your response will be posted even when you get this error. I have done like 3 or 4 exact postings because of this glitch unknowingly before.

This happens quite often. Mylots screening process leaves alot to be desired. Things that shouldn't get through do and things that are fine get refused! Wierd!

I'm starting to think that there is some kind of demented entity monitoring Mylots and making unfounded decisions. What gets deleted and what is allowed to stay supports that theory.

The thing is they will not frankly tell you why things are deleted. They will only said that they don't know but it had to be your fault. That doesn't make sense. There have been things that were so offensive that I reported and they they said they would take care of it. I reported it 3 times and they still had not done anything about it. The person said he like to sell midgets on Ebay as pets. How can you ignore something like that for months after is has been reported three times? Yet, go for something as simple as what I am doing? I don't know. I will say this, as other people develope mylot-like sites that work and for the people, they will not put up with this sort of thing if it continues.

It's a glitch in the system. Mylot personally do not check every single response and discussion the second it's started and so it can't be them that deleted it. I know there appear to be quite a few glitches in the system in recent days, not least with the earnings too. It might be an idea if it keeps happening to message Mylot admin and tell them what happened. They may not know about the problem, and what they don't know, they can't fix. Obviously you're okay now because you've posted this discussion, I wish Mylot would hurry and get these issues sorted out quickly.
