I took the plunge...

Yesterday I was able to sneak in an eye exam (they had a cancelation) before we leave for our trip Saturday. I was so exicted cause I really need it and was very much hoping to get in before we left. Anyway...I decided that I was also going to get contacts for the very first time. I was nervous, so very much nervous. But it was super easy and even though I had to get toric contacts, it seems to be okay so far. I am waiting to put them in again until Jason gets home though so I can make sure I do it right. I can not believe how much better you can see with contacts in. I was in awe over this. They didn't even really bother my eyes at all. The right one felt great almost right off, but the left was a bit annoying for quite sometime. I ended up having to have a trail of two different brands, so we'll see how they feel later today again. What did you do when you first got contacts? Did they bother your eyes at all?

I have been wearing contacts since I was 19 years old. And contacts have come a long way since then! :) But I have never really had any problems. And yes...it certainly is a way different view from glasses. At this point, when I take out my contacts, I hate driving because I can see better with my contacts driving. Congrats!!!! I am so happy that you tried them!!!!! You will find it will get easier to take them in and out with time. My partner has a heck of a time in the beginning and took 45 minutes to get them in....he kept blinking. But he has gotten used to it also. :) Congrats again! That is great news!!!!

Ahhh...you can still watch if you want! :) I don't mind, it wont bother me!! I have had something like that happen to me also...but mine didn't get stuck. I just went up into my eye like yours did. The first time that I did that I thought that I had dropped it, but then I remembered your story that you told me! So, and when I rubbed my eye and eye lid, POP! And back into my eye!! :D Hopefully that doesn't scare you...I promise that it didn't hurt.

I have problems with contacts and I don't know why - I saw my doctor and kept asking but all he did was check my eyes again. I kept asking questions but he ignored me and didn't say anything about why the contacts hurt my eyes. He never talked to me - I think he was a stupid idiot who had no clue what he was doing. Anyway, I had gotten soft contacts over a year ago. At first I was doing fine with them. My vision was not as good with the contacts as with the glasses - maybe only 3/4 as good, or a little less. Things were still a little blurrier than glasses. Then I was wearing my contacts everyday - not even a long time each day, just maybe eight hours. But then they would irritate my eyes. If I wore them more than eight hours a day, everyday (and yes I did never sleep in them and I clean and soak them very well).. my eyes would get all red and sore, and they'd feel brusied everytime I opened them or blinked. I wanted to know what's wrong with me but my stupid doctor wouldn't even answer my questions or talk to me. I'm about positive he had no idea. Anyway, I hate how I look in glasses, but I haven't worn my contacts in months. I've done different brands of solution but I should try different contacts as well. I'm scared to put them in because sometimes after they've hurt my eyes it takes many months for my eyes to heal. I mean, after maybe a week they look and feel healed, but when I try to put in my contacts too soon it hurts. So, I'm not sure what's wrong with me. They're not as clear as my glasses at all and if I wear them each day, even though I do clean them good, they hurt me. And they shouldn't, but they do! Anyway, I want to get into wearing contacts again real soon since summer is coming up.

Thats weird...I wonder if they are giving the wrong contacts for your eyes. I had a bit of trouble with my right eye and went in and he was like well I like you to try them for a week and then let me know. I knew something was wrong though. Sure enough there was an abarasion on my contact that was causing an owie on my eye...so new contact and all is better now. Wahooo

This is good to hear that getting contacts worked out well for you. I have been considering getting contacts myself but keep pushing it off to find out what others think. I am glad that you like them very much and that they do not bother your eyes too much. I am so used to wearing glasses. I am due for an eye exam soon so getting contacts could be a possibility as well. Were they expensive?

I don't know yet lol The eye exam (with contacts) was only 79 here. I am still on a trail set of contacts, so can't tell you how much they are going to be.

I do not wear contacts. Not sure I could. I have seen some that look to be really soft. The thought of putting something in my eye and removing it makes me a bit queazy. Today, when having my physical, I realized that I may need to get my eyes rechecked. As I only wear glasses for reading purposes, I am not sure I would want to wear them all the time. If it were necessary for me to have to wear something all the time to aid my sight, I may try contacts. But, for now, the reading glasses are all I need. Of course, an eye exam may prove that one wrong.

Congrats!!! I'm always in amazement when people get contacts and get them in! LOL I don't think I could ever do it. I'd have to opt for either glasses or surgery, the lasek thing. Luckily I haven't had to do either yet!

I don't wear glasses or contacts *yet*. I'm not sure if I'd be able to put contacts in though, I have a hard time even putting eye drops in my eyes. Congrats to you though :)

Wow, I can see everywhere! I can see further, no blur, no dust of finger prints!!! I can also see better in my peripheral vision, and I don't have to turn my head just to see something!!!!!! :) That is just some of what I was thinking when I got my first contacts when. It was just a year ago, and I don't know why I didn't have them before. Well...I know why, but you know the feeling right? LOL I am happy that you were able to have an eye exam, and got the choice of contacts! I have to say that I love contacts much better and would wear them every single day if it was alright for my eyes. I just have to tell you one thing though....since I got contacts, my eyes are more sensitive to the outside light. So, you might want to wear sunglasses when you are ready for the contacts!!! :D

When I first got contacts I was 14 and they were semi-hard. They weren't that comfortable. I loved it when I got soft contacts though. You are right you can see a lot better with them then with just glasses. Now I wear ones I can sleep in :) So I don't have to take them in and out each day. I'm very, very near sighted so I hate having to take them out and be blind. I don't know what I'd do without my contacts. They make life a lot easier.
