Company! Do you like,or dislike, those drop in friends that show up unannounced?

Ever have a friend,or family member show up unannounced? I get them all the time, just stopping by and dropping in. I hate that. When I am at home, I have my usualy routines that I do during the day. I also have, what I call my quite time. Inevtiably, thats when they show up. I usually can get over the discomfort of being disturbed, but sometimes getting rid of them, is more nerving. I have even said how I did not feel well and needed to be in bed, that didn't work. Now, when I feel that I am being invaded, I just tell them that I was getting ready to go somewhere. Don't get me wrong, I love my family, but I think it is rude to drop in unannounced. I only have one that is really bad for this, they have been told from others family members that they need to call first, they still show up, unannounced. Now we just, lie, which makes the whole situation worse. Does anyone have a way of handling a person like this?
