Have you heard of betelnut? Do you chew betelnut?

In Vietnam most old people chew betel. I faintly remember I saw my gramma chew it when I was about 7. Her lips are all red after chewing it. I think. I am not very sure. But in Vietnam, the groom has to give his bride's family betel as a gesture to ask for marriage. It's something like that. I don't know much about Vietnam. ^_^

Chewing betelnut is very common here in my country amongst my folks. I don't know how harzadous is this to health but ever since I was young I have seen my grandma chewing the betelnut and she lived to 98 years of age. The medical team has their opinion about this chewing of betelnut. But it has been here for ages and people just don't die from this.
