I ordered their new cd - but long wait for it

I ordered the new "Thirsty Merc" cd from an online store in Australia, so I could get it as soon as it was available, and I live about 20 minutes away from the local record shop. I work all day every day, and Saturday mornings, so don't get much of a chance to go up and get it, with looking after 3 kids as well. The online company contacted me, and told me that it was going to be a while before I received it, and offered me free postage. I am a bit curious as to why there would be a delay with it, and will contact them to ask them. Do you think that free postage is a reasonable compensation for waiting for the cd, especially as it will be about AU$10 more to buy it from the online store. I do it because I get points from an online company for it, and also from their reward scheme. However, I am seriously considering whether it really is worth it to buy from them. All thoughts appreciated.

I belong to email cash and get points if I buy on-line through their linked stores. One of them began selling cd's for $10 so I ordered 11. I really let my head go. The stupid b*stards sent them individually at $2.95 each for postage and then wouldn't give me my points. I don't buy from them any more. Can a friend or one of your kids get them for you?

My kids are 10, 8, & 5 so they can't get them for me. As well as that, I pre-ordered it, so I had it as soon as it came out.

The whole point of buying something online is to get it cheaper... So to start with... I don't understand why you would pay $10.00 more to get something online. Are the points worth more than $10.00? The postage would only cost $1.00 ... and even with insurance... it should not be more than $3.00 . But companies like to use the most expensive shipments they can find... like express post... because they probably get a discount from Australia Post... which they don't pass onto you. If I were you... I would have bought it on eBay. It would have been cheaper and faster.

If there is no other way to get the cd, then for you it would be a good deal Bel. I must admit that I am a little bit surprised at the cost of the postage, although sometimes the price of the CD is lower than at a shop. Then they seem to make up the difference by charging a high rate for the postage and this is more so when you know that they would buy all the things needed in bulk. It depends on how long the delay will be of course and whether or not you have been charged for the CD already. The other thing to consider is whether you can get it any other way, i.e. phoning your local record store and asking them to post it out to you. Check out that option, or at least that is what I would do. It also depends on how many rewards points you stand to gain from buying it through this source, as sometimes the reward points are a lot less than they are worth. Personally I would be seeing if the local record shop could post it out, and blow the reward points. Is that through EMC I wonder?

Yes it is, and I have received it. Now the ppl I bought it off are no longer a reward partner, so I hope I still get my points & exp.

Hi, yes this does not seem very good to wait that long but firstly when they said that to me I would of asked them how long I would have to wait then you would of at least had some time to consider whether it was worth waiting for or to buy it at your local store.

I think ebay seems the way to go if you want things fast. But cutting the cost of postage is all that you are going to get off them I think unfortuntely.

I would consider cancelling it. I hate that when you order something on line and they take forever to send it out to you. Do you have a friend or a family member that can maybe pick it up for you from the shops? I can understand how hard it is when you have 3 kids and your working as well. I hope you get it soon. Actually I just realised that you started this a week ago, so I hope you have got it now.
