My son is two and he still han't started to talk, well, he says mama, but I know he understands when I speak to him and he can hear from far away. Whenever he wants something he'll drag me to where it is and point but no matter what i do to make him say it. He'll start pouting and crying until I give it to him. Any advise

My son started talking at the age of 3. He was late in speech but walked at around 10 months of age. He was climbing our wall unit like a monkey. He started to utter a few words when he was around 2yrs and a half -3yrs of age.

My son is almost two and has a limited vocabulary. He also takes my finger, says dededede and drags me to what he wants. When he points, I say whatever the object is, like sippy over and over until he says something that resembles what it is. Good luck!

I am not sure how old children should be before they have speaking skills, Is there a public health nurse you can check with, If he understands you he may have the skills, My granddaughter talked baby talk when she was 8 months old if you talked to her she would talk gibberish back as like she was answering you, But the gibberish never changed and we had to take her for speech therapy, as there was some thing wrong with the muscle in her tongue, It was a small weakness in her brain, as well when she becomes over tired or stressed out her hands go into tightly clenched fists that she can not open until she rests and relaxes, It seems that this may have happened when she was born, but there are several children in speech therapy who have the same thing, as the speech therapist spotted it immediately, and now she speaks very well, she always was talking It was just that we couldn't understand her, So you might have him checked out in a few months if he continues to refuse to talk

Doesn't be too worried just yet, my cousin didn't walk or talk until she was that age! Try reading to him, let him watch things like sesame street where they teach letters, words, numbers etc & see what happens. My daughter said her first word early so i'm not really sure what other advise i could give you. I'd say, give it another 6 months maybe (2 1/2 yrs old) & if it's still the same, then maybe you could ask your Dr but don't stress yourself out too much with things like this, kids all develop in their own time & maybe he'll just start talking when he feels like it!
