I have colds and i want to get rid of it as soon as possible. What i did is to drink Vitamin C 1000mg per meal. I have taken a total of 3000mg per day. Will this speed up my healing process. Along with it i take "Neozep" a medicine for colds. I dont know it im right, but i just really want my colds to leave me. What do you think?

It is not good using one thing always. After your present treatment is over try to get Vit.C through fruits, and vegetables.

As far as I know, there is no such thing as vitamin c overdosage. You can take in as much as vitamin C as you can. Eatin fruits with vitamin C accompanied with water therapy (drinking lots of water) will speeden up your colds recovery. Taking it regulary at least 500mg a day will increase your immune system. But of course, if you want to make sure that its safe, you may consult a physician.

Thanks, i would do that. Minimize the 1000mg with 500mg. I only took that much because i wanted my colds to go away faster. :) thanks again

Vitamin C is known to be effective in combating symptoms of cold and flu, so yes I believe you can take it to get rid of your cold and flu. However I am not sure about the dose and for this it is better if you go and check it with a pharmacist or your family doctor. I used to take Gluthatione together with vitamin C and Rose-hip oil and it is good for my health. I rarely get any cold or flu. The main reason why I took these supplements was due to beauty purpose, i.e. I wanted a beautiful skin. Yes my skin turned out to be glowing in health but I stopped taking it because it's quite expensive.

Vitamin C is supposed to boost your immunity but taking too much (I recommend not more than 2x the recommended daily allowance) can cause stones in the urinary system. Besides the pills you are taking you also get vitamin C from foods you eat. I recommend taking a tablet of vit. C once a day, eating plenty fruits and vegetables and drinking lots of water. If it lasts more than 4 days consult your doctor.

thanks for the warning. I will certainly lessen my intake of vit C. I dont want to have any other problems worst than colds. Thanks for that advise. :)

Vitamin C is a water soluble vitamin so it will just leave your body naturally. There are certain vitamins that are fat soluble so they would be dangerous. Taking that much VitC is a treatment I have heard for a cold. The anti-oxidants in it specifically aids the body to fight off the problems of a cold. I have even heard of mega dosing, like a 1000mg every couple of hours to blast out the cold. The only real problem I remember is that since VitC is citric acid, if your stomache is bothered by acid then be careful with it.

I did believe that too. However you are right i do have problems with citric acid. I will stop it immediately and take only 500mg instead of 1000mg. thanks for the warning and advise. :)

Taking vitamins in so much high levels will leave a heavy impact on your body. Your body may stop responding to changes and your body will stop producing vitamins by itself. You can try the natural way of treatment like practicing yoga or some asanas. Yoga gives a physical way of treating common colds. There is no requirement of medicines in Yoga.
