I loved the movie too! I think it is one of the best movies ever made. It is a classic. There aren't many movies that are like that. I think Steel Magnolias and Forrest Gump are in that group too!

I have tried fried green tomatoes and have found they aren't to my liking. My mother loves these and could eat a bushel of them. I do like fried okra. Any fried food is something that I don't eat regularly.

Hi dawn,Yes i love fried green tomatoes, and also fried okra, that is some very good eating.I was born in Louisana and when i was young we came to Texas and that is a very southern dish..I love okra anyway you fix it and also tomatoes too..I guess we will just have to fix these kinds of things at home,i don;t think restaraunts serve these things, unless maybe Luby's might, however home cooking is so much better, don't you think? However it sure is nice not to have to cook,so I enjoy eating out quite often too...

Hello sliccut so you are a southern and enjoy the good food. I have been in place that have fried okra but not that have fried green tomatoes. i have heard of one place that had the fried green tomatoes but I never got to there. Sometimes things are better cooked at home and like you when I have the money it is good to go out and not have to cook or even have it delivered if they offer that. I wish there was more that did have delivery. Course most pizza places deliver. Well enjoy and take care

I like fried green tomatoes but I hate okra - we grew it when we lived in Texas and I never have liked it. I miss my Grandmother who passed away a few years ago. Every year she would call and remind me to save her some green tomatoes :) One year she didn't call and I dropped by unexpectedly with some for her - she started crying, you would have thought I'd given her a million dollars. The past 3 years I've made a point of frying some green tomatoes for Grandma, I'm sure she's smiling up in Heaven knowing that I'm doing that.

I am sure she is too! I will eat fried okra if it is fried right i like it well done not barely sooked, I like it crispy brown. I will not eat it in another way like boiled! OOOH that is gross!

Yes, boiled is the worst of all - I have tried fried and one time got some that was deap fried and breaded. I thought it was fried mushrooms, not being able to see what was inside never expected okra. I swallowed it and didn't die or anything but did not take any more - something about the texture possibly more than the actual taste...

I love fried green tomatoes! They are one of my favorite foods. I like okra too,but I have never fixed it. I usually get it when we go to Golden Corral or Ryans. When we lived in TN, we could buy fried green tomatoes at a local restuarant called the Purple Cow. They served them with ranch dressing and we used to get them in the evening as a snack.
