i have recently started working, and have been averaging from work about $200-300. and then i still get some money off centrelink. im trying to save some money so i can go visit my sister in august because she is due to give birth to her baby then and i havent seen them for nearly a year now, she has 2 other children 9 and 7. i miss them like crazy, but we are also having to travel regular to sydney so my partner can have operation plus check ups on his ears, but i still cant seem to save the money in my bank, half the time i cant say where its even going, fuel, food, bills or sometimes just waste on clothes or credit for my phone or just a treat, i know i need to learn to minimise all this but it still not happening, have you had to do this and how did you do it.. can you give me any pointers at all. thanks

Try and not touch the money you get from centrelink at all, just pretend that you dont get it. Or put some of your wages straight into a different account easch week. Or give to a trusted relative to hold onto for you.

yeah i have tried not touching the money i got off centrelink, but a flock of bills come all at once so i thought oh i have to pay them. so i ended up paying them. then i have opened another account up and put money each fortnight (it comes straigh out of my pay) and that didnt work it ended up being spent. my partner said if i go to touch the saving bank he will cut the card up lol. i think he means he take it and just hide it incase of an emergency lol. but since he said that i havent touched it for 7 weeks now (only put 20 a fortnight in it) so hoping it works.
